Me and my buddies just started moving into the "blue zone". Can somebody recommend us a nice cozy system, with a well-equipped station? Preferably close to the capital system.

Cemiess is a nice hub for missions, especially to Vequess and back.
Beta-1 Tucanae has a brown dwarf with extraction sites not too far from a coriolis station (you need to travel quite a bit from the star to get there, though), so it is a good place for bounty hunters.
Up above Cemiess is an independent system called Condovichs which has no registered settlements.
When you jump there, though, a contact called "Walter's Port" appears in the Nav Tab. It is a coriolis roughly 7k ls away from the parent T-Tauri star. It has a wide selection of ships (13) and is very well stocked with weapons and modules.
Good trade routes can be found around Wuthielo Ku, which also has rare items in stock. Currently, the best trade routes around Empire space are between Nunus and Peraesii. These are quite well known and thus change very often, but good profits can be made trading in that general area all the time. Sometimes you just have to change the route to another system until the original route recovers from being overused.

I found quite a nice base in the Wuru system, good trading area, a nice RES hunting ground just one jump away and various Hi tech stations within reach.
Though I've recently had to move on as the Giltine Purple Gang have a shoot on site order out on me and I was regularly getting ganged up on by angry pirates, 3 or 4 at a time.

Cheneti. Plenty of RES areas for bounty hunting. Lots ofLTT9097 (I think its 9097; I think. its right next door, one jump in most ships, and you're looking for a station named Fox Gateway) is also a good one. Its next to Cheneti, Imperial and High Tech. Which means lots of ships and weapons.
You also have Turir right next door as well. Its a High Tech Federation system, also with RES areas. It imports gold and has a system close by that exports same.
All in all, the Cheneti/Bloder/Turir area is a great place to call home, especially early on or if you are into combat heavy roles. So far as I know, there's not a ship in the game you cannot buy somewhere in this corridor of systems, including the Vulture, which I nabbed in Turir. Between Turir, the LTT system and Cheneti, you've got plenty of shipyards, outfitting options and tons of RES areas for bounty hunting and mining. Not to mention, you occasionally get minor wars breaking out here, due to the number of factions faffing about in this area of space.

Atlantis is my base, worth checking out too.
Not much. A nice capital ship is in the system. That's about it. No extraordinary stations or commodities or such.
