Looking for a new bounty-hunter-ship, advice welcome

For RES-hunting i prefer the clipper over the vulture. Its faster and with the additional 2G multicannons you can kill powerplants of bigger ships much faster. And you can use shieldboosters and shieldcells, which gives it better shields than the vulture. I havent tried the fdl, which might be an option too.

I'm not trying to sound uppity here, but with how much of a tank you can make the Vulture (i use two A shield boosters) as well as having good firepower, if you're losing your shields or having to use SCBs at a RES with a Vulture, then you're doing something seriously wrong.

I love the clipper but personally found it a bit of a liability at RES sites .. The ship is very drifty it turned into a bit of an asteroid magnet for me. Agree that the Vulture is perfect for scooting round RES sites.

I do not think that i am doing anything wrong, nor have i said that i am losing shields while res-farming. I can stay in a res for hours, and usually anything smaller than an anaconda dies in less than 15 seconds.

But i think we can agree on more shields being always better, right? And dont tell me that you never lose one or two rings of your shields when fighting against anacondas and/or multiple enemies. Thats when shield cells come in handy to continue the killing instead of having to wait for your shields to replenish. Have you ever tried the clipper in a res? If you cant kill stuff faster in a clipper than in a vulture, you are doing something wrong... ;-)

Of course you lose a shied ring or two, but my shields have never completely dropped no matter what I'm facing that would require me to think about adding an SCB onto the Vulture and I'll do back to back Condas when they pop in such a fashion - you do realise there are blind spots for hardpoints yes? From what you said in your comment, if you didn't have those SCBs on your Clipper, you'd have lost your shields completely, something that has never happened to me in a Vulture. The Clipper is also a much larger target.

I have indeed tried a Clipper in a RES and the Clipper is absolutely one of my favourite ships, but I personally find the Vulture a lot more fun and cost-efficient, that part is down to personal taste.

You are right, drifting is definitly an issue with the clipper, but i actually like it.

My stats on rud-events (rapid unsceduled disassembly) after asteroid contact:

Vulture 1
Clipper 0

Hi
I have to second this one as the vulture is perfect for evading asteroids and dealing with multiple enemies. It's the Res ship for me. I had the feeling that despite the power issues and "limited" hardpoints it deals more dps over all, at least for me it did that.
Also the rebuy is a factor for me as it's by far less painful to loose. Loosing the efforts of the last 20 min of bounty hunting compared to a full hour or more does it for me.
But i have to admit it could get boring after a while.
Still my absolute preference in ship choice for combat, especially for Res farming.
Never flown the FDL though, so don' t know about that.
You'll probably just have to buy them all and find out which one has the best feeling for you ;-)

The clipper needs shield cells, but it has the space and power to run plenty of them.

Also, there is no way you can stay in a conda's blind spot 100% of the time when in a vulture. You can't manoeuvre it faster than the anaconda can rotate.
