Hardware & Technical Looking for a new monitor

Currently have an Asus VG245H (24” 1080P 75hz) looking to upgrade to a 1440P IPS monitor with a higher refresh. My rig, I believe, should handle it fine:

Ryzen 5 2600
16gig Corsair DDR4 @3000
SSD
EVGA GTX1070ti SC

So far been considering the Asus MG279Q (1440P, 144hz IPS. Yes I know it’s Free-Sync and not G-Sync but so is my current monitor without issues and Free-Sync models are cheaper :p).

Wondering if anyone has one and has feedback (heard of some QC issues with the panels) or if you might have a suggestion for something else that may be better in a similar range.

I know it’s Free-Sync and not G-Sync

Recent NViDIA cards can now use the VRR capabilities of VESA adaptive sync displays. Only a handful are officially supported, but you should be able to enable the feature on most any FreeSync display.

You do need to be using Windows 10 and be connected via DisplayPort 1.2a or higher.

Gotcha. I was looking to use display port anywho since my EVGA GTX 1070ti SC has but one HDMI port and three DisplayPorts. And the HDMI is currently occupied by my oculus. So that’ll work out in my favor it seems with going with a FreeSync monitor.

The "Asus MG279Q" while beeing 144Hz, only has a Freesync range between 30-90Hz. So getting frame rates above 90Hz with Freesync (or G-sync which it is supposed to work with) will make Freesync/G-sync useless above 90 fps.

You might want to check out the following site:
https://www.displayninja.com/freesync-monitor-list/

You can filter out what you want from there (27", 2560x1440, IPS, etc).

Here is a screen on Amazon.com that will work with both G-sync and Freesync according to that site (30-144Hz range):
https://www.amazon.com/Nixeus-FreeSync-Certified-Monitor-NX-EDG27S/dp/B07N4DL9F7

And it seems to be getting pretty good user reviews:

Two more possibilities mostly aimed at Europe it seems (don't know if they are "G-sync compatible"):

Acer Nitro VG270UP (40-144Hz Freesync range):

Acer XF270HUA (40-144Hz Freesync range):

Edit:
Ignore the link to user reviews for the Nixeus monitor - got that one mixed up with one of the Acer screens.

Thanks very much I’ll have a look at that :)
