Looking for a new toy...a hot rod!

Hello CMDRs, I am looking for a change of pace. I want to build a ship that goes really fast for canyon running and maybe some res shenanigans.

I'm down to 2 ship choices, the iCourier or the iEagle. Which one is faster? Are they comparable in terms of maneuverability?

Any input from pilots of one or both of ships would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Both are great fun. iCourier is possibly more practical. Why not both? ;)

Courier is like a f18 in cockpit style with an imperial apple flavour. The courier is lighter than the Eagle thus, high performace drives are more effective. I have a courier doing 650m/s boost with weapons and shields out the wazzoo.

The iEagle will need to be stripped way down to reach high speeds, while iCourrier can retain
good combat capabilites and reach 650 m/s and double up as an exploration capable ship
with grade 4/5 FSD mods.

I quite like the iCourrier for short exploration (tourism) trips (~1-2 K lyr) as it allows for great
fun above the planet surfaces, something you cannot do with an ASP.

I had the same choice and initially I went with the Imperial Eagle, thinking that because it could get slightly faster speeds out of a similar build that that it would be better for a speed build then the Courier. Technically it is, but it's almost unusable to actually travel anywhere with it. The internals are so small and every ton of weight has a big impact on the speed so you really can't put anything in it in terms of equipment. You have no cargo space and no internals to put more than a tiny fuel scoop so it's a huge pain to move it between stations. The Courier on the other hand has excellent internals and can easily carry a fuel scoop in addition to some cargo if you have any Engineering commodities that you need to carry around. With ship transfers it might become much easier to have an Imperial Eagle "follow" you by moving to the station with a long-range ship but at present I would recommend the Courier for that reason alone.

I have just bought an iCourier and kitted her out for speed and combat. Still getting used to it and trying to mod the weapons (Damn Modified Embedded Firmware). I think i am going to like this little treasure.

One thing bugs me though is if you look out the front window then look directly up at the overhead cockpit dash, why on earth is there an old Analogue Radio or 8 track player ;) :) .

How else are you gonna listen to your old cassette tapes?

Personally I would go for the Eagle, have done plenty or runs in both ships and find the Eagle handles better, the cockpit view and visibility is also a lot better in VR. Both ships are very large compared to actual fighters, I find the Courier a little too big and clunky for the kind of low level flying I do, it would be a better choice for RES fun.

Here's some old videos I made of some Canyon runs in the Ieagle. Beautiful ship.

Standard thrusters

Loved the vids, will have to +1 when I get to my PC. The ieagle has one of the best cockpits in the game! However, I am leaning to the courier for now. It sounds like it will be able to do a few more things than the ieagle.

If I build a pure canyon runner, ieagle it is for sure!

MEF are a pain. Though you can go with 3 gimbaled double shot frags. Really good on the iCourrier speed build.
Best burst damage in the game right now. Get close, b*tch slap with the frags, get out giggling.
