PvP Looking for a PvP group to train with. (PC-English)

Not very familiar with the PvPers around here, but I'd like to acquaint myself. I'm looking to garner some skills in PvP combat. Help would be greatly appreciated :D

Hello Vindris!

There is a Discord community where people teach others in PvP combat. From loadouts, to general hardware help, to evaluations of your fights in PvP. The Galactic Combat Initiative will help you learn in many of these areas. If you're quite new to Elite, the Galactic Academy is also a good place to start when asking for general advice and help. Links of both discords are below.

I wish you luck with that.

Getting good in PvP is a blend of trial and error and advice from friends/wingmates. There are some ships that work better than others so don't be surprised if you're told to go get either a FAS, FDL, Clipper, Cutter or Corvette, depending on what your style is. Mine is big ships so I chose the Vette.
Basic things you should get taught is that:

  • 4 pips to SYS will strengthen your shields.
  • Fixed weapons are the way to go; highest damage, lowest draw.
  • Identifying when you are compromised in a fight and leave with enough time and health.
  • Fly the class of ship you feel most comfortable in. If you love big ships, stay with them. Don't let anyone tell you "you HAVE to get an FDL" or whatever. You can make a Corvette work easy.
  • Unbind Silent Running (if you use a pad like I do) or move it to a key that you won't press accidentally. You do NOT want your shields dropping in the middle of a fight.
  • Flight Assist Off is your friend. Bind it to a nearby key or button on the pad. Mine is on the left analog stick.

There's other things to it but that knowledge should get you started.
Good luck.

You can send me a friend request and ill help.
Same as the name here.

Not great but I can help you get started

Don't need a group anymore. Just park your stuff at San Tu and use the bot to get into matches. 1v1's to 5v5's generally - there are bots for all match sizes. It'll be rough going initially if you're new, but people are generally supportive. Euro timezone is the busiest in the evenings. US evenings are a bit on and off. Come 3.0 there will be a one or two week lull and then it'll probably get really really busy. The ability to get on a level playing field with engi mods is really really going to help pvp.

^ PvP Hub discord. It's the same people that advise in most of the non-RP pvp groups, discords etc. SDC, RNG, Nomads, AA/PDM, etc etc. All are welcome. Hit me up anytime, CMDR ICBMongo.
