Ships Looking for a sidegrade for Vulture

Like the topic states, I am looking for something comparable to the Vulture. I use the vulture for some light hauling (upto 16T), heavy bounty hunting. Typically something I can do just as good or better against anacondas once in a while but mostly vs pirates. Just want to try another ship really, something with more guns and highly maneuverable. I was thinking maybe the Diamondback Scout, but shields are weak and the DB Exploder has low maneuverability from the looks of it.(thoughts?)

PS: The asp is out of the question, I really hate the way it sounds. It bugs me to the point where I can't stand it. It sounds like a Cessna single engine taking off. I live near an airport (local albeit small) where i hear them often and it's annoying. I love everything about it except the sound it makes when I'm maneuvering. I just can't get immersed into the game while playing in this ship.( keyword immersed) if there is a way to change the sound file for when it maneuvers, I would totally pick this ship up again.

Thank you for your suggestions in advance
I am a new player, only been playing about 3 weeks. So any advice would be appreciated.
PSS: I don't PVP only 100% PVE

You could take a look at the Imperial Courier, although you may need a rank in the Empire to get it, not sure.

It's not as strong as the Vulture, but has an extra hard point, is nice and agile to fly, and sounds more like a jet fighter. Looks nice too.

Well for fighting and light haulage i'm afraid your only option after a Vulture is de Fer-De-Lance, which is extremely expensive and so it's not quite a sidegrade...

That Huge harpoint can do some real damage, but it's very difficult to actually hit something with it. The 4 medium harpoints can give some variety that the Vulture misses, but they feel somewhat lackluster compared to the Vulture's 2 large hardpoints. You can take some cargo with it, and it's manouverability is somewhat like between an Asp Explorer and a Cobra...

As for the DB Explorer, forget it... You would be far better of in a Cobra for the kind of use you want.

Not really much choice... If you want to try a large ship and want manouverability and combat ability, try the Clipper. Good weapons, incredible speed, very manouverable for a large ship. And you can do anything with it, except land on outposts.

After the Vulture and Asp, The Clipper is the only ship in which I didn't feel disappointed.

I bought courier when i got sick of vulture. It's a great ship. Try it.
I agree completely, let me break it down for you:
.
Pros: It's faster. Has better cargo capacity. Smaller profile. Better jump range. Better view. Sounds better. Looks better. Easier power management. About the same level of tankiness and the smaller profile helps. It's cheaper.
Cons: It's not quite as manoeuvrable. You can't masslock anything other than a small toaster. It has a paper hull. You will have to either manage your capacitor effectively or only stick to 1 energy weapon. Sustained DPS on the Vulture is superior.
.
I swapped from Vulture also, as I think it's the most characterless ship in the game, I felt no bond with it at all. The Courier has been a great little work horse, she fights well and smuggles just as well. She's an effective assassins ship as well. It's definitely staying round as one of my keeper ships, plus it doesn't sound like something's broken when you hit afterburner or full throttle.... I'm looking at YOU Vulture.

Thank you for your replies guys, an awesome community no doubt. I will look into trying out a Courier. Thanks again for the info and taking the time to reply :)

I find it disturbing that you rule out the Asp simply due to sound (which can be lowered/muted). The Asp will be closest sidegrade you will find and does a ton of things whereas the Vulture can only kill.
