Looking for advice on weapons loadout from Dropship owners

I finally punched out ensign rank last night after three nights of running missions, wandered over to Autahenetsi and collected my Federal Dropship. My first impressions coming from a Vulture is damn, I'm going to need to learn a whole new system of fighting. On its own I can see where these are vulnerable to smaller craft, especially from above. My thought is, there is probably an ideal weapons confirguration to help negate this. I'm thinking that the two medium hardpoints on either side of the ship I should put Class 2 turreted beams, that should let me hit a target anywhere around my my ship with at least one beam, and load out all the bottom harpoints with gimablled kenetic weapons instead of turrets, so they don't waste ammo shooting at shielded targets. The theory is with this configuration my beams can break down shields on my target wherever he is, and when I get him in front of me I can punch him out quick with class 2 and 3 cannons.

This loadout would be for just RES/warzone farming. Can I get some opinions on this from FDS owners, or perhaps a weapons loadout that makes better sense and why?

I'm lovin 1x C3 G-Beam laser and 4x C2 G-Multicannons. 4 pips with A-grade distributor can fire all 5 weapons forever. Spend some time flying it and managing the drift around and you'll never let targets get behind you unless you want them to. Learn to use boost + FA off for quick turns (just mind the drift around asteroid fields). I dont recommend turrets as they'll waste ammo and/or energy plus they usually get you a bounty in their current state(fixed in 1.3).
 
I just built a drifter in the beta.

4 fixed C2 Bursts and a C3 Plasma Accelerator.

The new C2 Bursts are pure awesome against shields and hull and the Plasma Accelerator is a sub system wrecker.

Very enjoyable loadout, have become quite attached to my drifter today.
