General / Off-Topic Looking for an image hosting service

I need some advise. I am looking for a free image hoster that has the following features:

- Maximum file size ~3MB or higher. My Elite Dangerous screenshots end up at up to ~2.5MB, so I need a rather generous maximum file size.
- No auto-conversion. I want to use and post PNG files, exclusively. I believe JPG was fine when it was invented and storage and bandwidths were small, now the format should die in a fire.
- Long-term storage. Obviously I wouldn't want my posts to end up without images a year from now.
- No registration required. I don't need yet another login.
- Hotlinking allowed.
- Reliable service, both when uploading and retrieving images.
- A usable UI with easy copy+pasting of image hotlinks after uploading.
- Does not require additional software installed on my computer.

I don't even need advanced features like bulk uploading, drag&drop or online editing after uploading, I just want to put my screenshots on the net with the least amount of hassle and in the very quality I create them.

I have been using directupload.net for a long time, but recently they have rather random trouble uploading images, it sometimes takes 10 or more attempts until an image gets through (the site always pretends as if the upload was successful, but the image link ends up pointing nowhere). They also have a "cloud upload" feature that functionally works and does seem more reliable, but the UI for copying the image links afterswards is atrocious. Like, the worst I have ever seen in my life.

I tried imgur.com and while seemingly perfect at the surface, I found they auto-convert my images to JPG. A google search eventually revealed that this is a "feature" to speed up the loading of the images when you hotlink them, all PNG images aboved 1MB are downsizes to a crappy JPG. D'oh!

Well, you have one good option. Go to getgreenshot.org and look at their application. One of it's installation options is to use imgur. It doesn't require anything to use it, there is no sign up, and it just works....

Well I forgot to mention, and added it to the OP - I don't want to have to install some extra client software, either.

You could try http://postimage.org/

EDIT: don't know how long the images uploaded when not registered are stored there though. And hotlinking to megabyte-sized images does go awry pretty fast.

This site as a link to a quick uploading service that free and reliable. http://computertypes.proboards.com/

As a bonus, they will offer advice of any aspect of Computer hardware or software.

I have dropbox as well and usually it is excellent, though I have to report that some people in N America, to whom I've send dropbox links, say they cannot access them.

Dropbox is pretty slick. Normally I'd recommend puush, but I'm not sure if they meet your requirements. Though both do necessitate installing software.
