I make montages for fun. I am looking for interesting/beautiful places.

In the early days of the CCN, the Exploration Wing put together a catalog of interesting points of interest around Colonia that weren't quite significant enough to warrant inclusion in the Galactic Mapping Project. Lots of planetary nebula, earthlike worlds, etc. I've been thinking of compiling this into something that's easier to browse, but in the mean time here's the Trello board that we used: The General Colonia Catalog
its all pretty amazing around there, depends what you want to see.
there is the planet within the jet cones of a white dwarf out near Colonia If you fancy a stunning view of the cones, can be a tricky landing though bring some spare pants
SPOIHAAE XE-X D2-9
SRV is fine in the cones, just don't recall your ship while the cones pass the planets surface! - I wont post my pic of this as it will spoil the experience, but deffo worth a gander
I'd certainly recommend to visit this place too.![]()
If 3k ly isn't far for you, then Dryaea Flee GC-D d12-3089 is worth visiting. It features an Earth-like world orbiting a ringed gas giant at a very close distance, and with a rapid orbital period - it used to be a record holder for the shortest, although a few shorter ones have been discovered since. Oh, and the system is inside the nebula, so the background looks great too.
Here's a screenshot.
Depending on your definition of 'near' Colonia, these two systems might qualify, both being about 3.2 KLY away:
- Oephaivsky WI-K d8-1350. Planet 5 is an Earth-like World in a trinary configuration with a ringed gas giant and a ringed Y dwarf, just a few hundred LY from the 'Golden Chalice Nebula' in the Festival Grounds. Interesting skies!
- Eephaills YF-W d2-93. Planet A5 is a ringed Earth-like World, slightly farther than the above from the Golden Chalice Nebula. It is in a binary configuration with a ringed gas giant but the orbit is quite distant, so not as good for screenshots. Planet B2 is also Earth-like.
See https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...x-Expedition?p=6055407&viewfull=1#post6055407 for some screenshots of my own and further details of my findings as I passed through the region several weeks ago - maybe something else there will be of interest.
