Looking for someone to fly with

I'm pretty new to Elite, but I think it would be more fun in a group.

I have a Teamspeak 3 server, but would happily hop on anyone else's comms server.

I'm 25, live in the North West of the UK and would like turn bumbling through the mechanics of this beta into a more social experience.

I need to get TS 3 setup, but I'm game.

It is at the moment and there are no grouping facilities. I have never tried this myself but I believe others have tried something similar, and that is to make use of your firewall. What you could do is block all the UDP traffic coming in from other players except the IP addresses of those that you wish to play with. I don't know whether this would at all influence things, but it might work if you were geographically close.

One of the fundamentals of the game is to form of groups. No doubt that when the gamma and the retail version are released, many people will join forces for many conquests

You need to ensure the IP address of the server that was assigned to you (visible in the main menu) is the same, then you have a decent chance of ending up in the same instances.

Considering the fact none of my friends want to try the game, I'd love to if you wish for more groupees. Feel free to let me know if you want me to. Join.

Come hang out

My Ventrilo server is up and open for anyone to log in and chat about the game. I realize its a toss up on what server you get into at this point, however we can still chat and discuss the game or whatever. I can support 25 peeps at the moment and will upgrade if I get a lot of regulars on. Got two of us blokes in now yapping.

Actually, I've grouped up with people. Just need to make sure you're on the same server together. :) We'll twas like that before loads of players joined the mix. Still, I'd say its very doable.

Isn´t it sheer luck on which server with 32 other players you currently will find yourself atm?

Pretty much yes.

I have had many issues to actually see some of my friends online. So far instance placement is a sheer lottery.

Until FD implements some kind of "Person of Interest" mechanic that allows the instancing server take into account your grouping preferences, either through the "Groups" system that is planned or otherwise, it will remain a lottery.
