Hardware & Technical Looking for suggestions for a 3 monitor surround setup for Elite Dangerous

I'm in the process of updating (well, rebuilding) my PC with a i7-8700k, Gigabyte Z370 AORUS Gaming 3 Mobo, 16G RAM (G.SKILL TridentZ RGB Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 4133MHz (PC4 33000) Desktop Memory) & a GeForce GTX 1070 Ti 8GB (VR Ready) Graphics card.
I am trying to determine what monitor set to get, or if there is a widescreen monitor that will display the same images as 3 monitors.
Because I am only getting one GTX 1070 Ti, The monitors will need HDMI, DP and DVI connectors.
I am also wondering if I need 120 hz. These monitors seem awfully expensive and would take longer to acquire!
I'm also thinking minimum bezel to help make the images appear more seamless.
If you have recommendations please let me know.
Thanks
Jibs
PS: VR will come much later! $$$

Unless you really need triple screen for productivity and gaming - I'd save the pennies and wait for VR :D

Triple screen is great, but behaves poorly with some games, is a mess of cabling, takes up a bunch of room and sockets, and can generally be a real pain. However, it definitely does have its advantages.

Generally though, I'd recommend one really great monitor than three cheaper ones.

You may have a good point there... 3 decent monitors would be more than $800 (USD) and that's the price of a VR.
Hmmm.......

Maybe one good monitor for my other games that don't allow multi-monitors (Overwatch) and a VR for ED.
Back to the drawing board I go...
Thanks!

Price for VR is $400 for a rift.
It beats the first vive on all accounts, I own both.
The vive pro, well that's mostly fixing a lot of things from rushing the first and adding In slightly updated panels.

And you would want a 1080ti or 1180 at minimum for the vive pro.
Not to mention the vive pro kit is $1200. Yes the rift has significantly less resolution but I can't recommend it compared to a $400 rift.

I first started playing ED with three 24" 1080p screens but I hardly ever used them as a trippel screen setup since they simply have too much distortion even when it works best and the side screens served mostly as browser and video.
This is normal for all games, 80% of the side screens only show. stretched out peripherals, no real detail or new information is found there.
And there is the panel degradation, no two screens will look the same in a years time. I'm very picky about that so it alone was enough reason for me to not use surround.
And of course view angle etc etc etc.
I happily replaced all three with a single ultra wide 3440×1440 screen.
imo presents better ultra wide experience than trippels and being a single screen doesn't suffer any of the major drawbacks.

In general though I would rather recommend a large 4k monitor today though.
imo trippels can be neat for a few hours, but ultimately impractical, for multi screen deskrop use it's brilliant. But for gaming I recommend rather getting the biggest single screen you can find.
For instance playing games on a 100" projection screen is the bees knees.
But VR, low res and low fov as it is now, is a thousand times more.

Vr is however not for everyone but I'm hooked in.
Covered almost 3000 hours in this game and 2000 of those where in VR with first vive but mostly the rift. Even backed the Pimax 8k Kickstarter so time will tell.

Anyhoo, that's my nickel of rambling.

If you do go the trippel screen route, just find a screen of appropriate size and features and cost you can accept to pay for three.
Unless you have the same damage I do you might not notice the panel degradation which occurs gradually over time and for decent experience you want all screens to be of the same make and model.
And having multiple monitors gives you far more options than just surround setup.
