[INDEPENDENT] Looking for those who are interested in BGS from the very bottom

Big groups are not by territory. We are very small yet we are big by your definition. Why not help others maintain what they already have, often through years of hard effort?

We are a small player group and faction. We do bgs stuff, we like to expand into systems with fancy stations and we enjoy the tactics to be able to try and achieve that. We have bgs goals which we think of as our own community goals. It gives something interesting to do for those who are interested. It's by no means mandatory.

But it's definitely not all about the bgs. We are small enough where everyone becomes familiar. I guess we are all friends really. Even though we've never met in person.

I sometimes do recruitment posts on here, but not that often. I quite like the size we are. Although we're a bit thin on the ground at the moment because not as many people are playing at the moment for obvious reasons.

Feel freecto pop into our Discord if you want to meet some lovely friendly people.

I spent a lot of 2020 doing this - after carriers launched, I went to the very edge of the bubble, where there was no player traffic, outside of the powerplay bubble even, then just picked a faction and supported it. As a secondary goal, since the former controlling faction had been going through a series of uncontrolled expansions (any and all passive traffic that had passed through the system over the months or years the area hadn't been managed kept pushing them up) I worked on trimming them back to free up the local bubble for other factions to move in. I had a pretty nice little thing going on. Saw another PMF spreading my way, and clogged up the systems between us with expansions so they'd either have to start some retreats or go around, and hopefully end up spreading elsewhere.

Then a new PMF dropped on top of me, and I moved on to give them room to grow. They're doing pretty well now. Proud of 'em. Like what they've done with the place. That was around the time I got into piracy in the mining metaspot (before the mining changes killed it) so I moved to somewhere nearer to that.

As an independent BGSer, don't get too hung up on getting tied to one place or one faction. It's no fun playing defence against big groups, since they'll just sweep in with weight of numbers, then most likely cry about you in the BGS discord for "griefing" them if you retaliate.

Can I suggest contacting Bottom Hat?

He has a very 'healthy' interest in all matters bottom ;)

Disclaimer, OP ignore this post, it's poor humour based on the word 'bottom' (hee hee hee) and a totally unjustified swipe at an innocent commander who happens to have that moniker in his commander's name.

Well, i've choosen system by best parameters, and made it my home, i know, im gonna stay there for years, no matter what, and enjoy playing even alone.
On the other hand, what if your small or big(doesn't matter) group one day gone, or almost all members went inactive. So im gonna hold your legacy and place in bubble, which i didn't choose.
So im rather looking for an idividual like me, or two, who shares my phylosophy, than for an established group.

Sounds like an enjoyable endeavor. Hit me up if the occasion arises for diplomatic relations. Good luck!

Good day, commanders.

So, the situation is. After getting very deep into every Elite activity, i got an intention to get in BGS process. But, i really don't like an idea to join some medium or big existing groups, to work on their minor faction.
Seems like a paradox. Perhaps, i don't like how small is single player impact in big group overall.
Im really excited to choose my own system, to get into atmospheric process from the very beginning.
Since you need at least 10 ppl to try to create your own faction, the only way in this case, is to pick one from already existing(normally generated), and start to support it.
Here you can ask a reasonable question- what's the point, if soon or later a big player faction anyways gonna jump in your main or other system and destroy you. But this is exactly the point ) We can see ppl going for months into deep galaxy alone. Matters of your own enjoyment.

For some while, i was searching for the best fitting system, by many parameters.

  • Population as small as possible, so you can alone/with 2/with 3 really change things in system. The more population you got, the more effort you need
  • Good position, eventually it's 60 ly to both Shinrarta and Deciat(if case you want get to pvp)
  • System with big station, since a lot of systems only have a small one
  • Quick access to station from star, <500 ls
  • Planets with opportunity of Odyssey content

From the 5 very fitting candidates, i choosed one, which is best combo. Then choosed a home faction with just 3,6% influence. Faction is Independent with Corporate government.

A little about me. Played Elite from beta to 2018, then after 3 years of break, i started to play half year ago, with second account. For now, i got fully engineered combat ship, trade ship, and exploration(73 ly jump, 350 000 distance) ship. Despite having engineered for any purpose in game ships, i don't have fleet carrier, and my balance 1 billion credits. I play almost every day, but if free regime. Also pretty good results in pvp, so i can do anything, got possibilities for any activity. I got Odyssey too, but haven't played that much yet- think they will bring better optimisation there soon. So at the moment im flying in Horizons.

Overall, if anyone has an interest, join me. It seems to me, that the most comfortable gameplay for small group of two or three.

  • if you dont want middle and big squadrons, all that farm, grind, etc. Calm process in two or three people
  • if you like to calmly and leisurely promote your small faction, and watch what happens. meaning to enjoy what a couple/3 of people can do on their own
  • any kind of activity to the liking- pve, exploration, bgs, pvp if you want
  • I absolutely don't care which mode to play, but 95% of time i spend in open
  • free schedule, 2-3-several hours a day

You can contact me in private, or discord Fauver#0300.
If you are on INARA, I believe you can adopt a faction. It will then show other players that the faction is being actively controlled by players. It could be helpful since most player factions will be more respectful toward your faction if they know a player group is behind them.

Yes, i made squadron both in game and INARA, and connected it to chosen faction.
But, what you mean by you can adopt faction? Like, you can somehow turn your supported randomly-generated faction into player faction? How you do that?

INARA allows you to edit a faction to indicate whether it is a player controlled faction....

Oh, the bottom field is inactive for me... INARA somehow know it is not a player faction. I could only set "related minor faction" in my squadron details, so it show if faction being supported by squadron/single players.

I think there is a way to set it to adopted. I can swear I've seen the "adopted' designation when checking around INARA.

If I can find an example I will post it up. I bet if you contacted INARA they can clarify or help with that. If something has changed, or if my memory is just off, my apologies. But I'm pretty sure I've seen the "adopted" tag on factions. Hopefully someone else can confirm that.

I do have a home area. Consists of about 30 or so insignificant systems on the peripherary of the bubble.
They all have the requirements we need locally. Tech broker, mats vendors, anarchy, boom, bust, civil unrest etc etc.
Also with the advent of on foot farming of mats, tourist, industrial, military, so on.
What we don't have is a home. Perhaps 3 systems in close order we can call home.
But this means we're not vulnerable nor beholden. Don't do the PP cos it's not near us.
But bgs we defo do manipulate to our advantage.
So good luck Op.

Ok, I am not losing my mind.

I was correct, but now I'm no longer correct (haha). The "adopted" flag was once an option, but it looks like a few months back it was changed (removed) by INARA. Snapshot below, and link to the discussion thread as well.....

Hello Fauver,

I'm also a lone BGS player and I really like to have a place to call home. I don't like flying in wings and doing stuff like that (but we can try), and I probably wouldn't stay at your system permanently, but it would be great to have an ally with similiar gameplay to mine, whom I could visit sometimes to see how he is doing and maybe help him a little bit, or ask him for help. Such alliance can also prove priceless in times when your or my home would be attacked by a larger group, so that we can help each other (I've experienced that once, and it would really be great to have some support).

If such friendship would interest you, lets connect. Not in a single squadron, but as two lone commanders whose paths occassionally cross. Btw, if anyone else with similair gameplay (lone players taking care of their systems) would like to connect, PM me :)
