Hardware & Technical Looking to go multi-GPU with multi-monitors

Don't say I didn't warn ya.
Nvidia surround works great last I checked, AMD's only 'real' advantage was that it a virtuel resolution making games that didn't support more screens just think it is one big screen.
However Nvidia has this now too, plus it is very easy to set up the bevel as well, so both are as far as I see equally good at it.

I stopped paying close attention to this about a year ago so my information might be out of date, but I don't believe so.

Profile switching is (was?) a nightmare on Nv Surround and they kept on breaking it with various patches.

You used to be able to use that displayfusion program to get around the worst of it but they broke that as well.

You still can't do mixed panel/resolution or PLP either so you're basically stuck with 3 identical screens I believe. The real cruncher is that AMD still supports Eyefinity in most of their GE titles while Nvidia couldn't care less about Surround. Games like Mass Effect 3 came working out of the box with Eyefinity for example while Nv Surround had to be hacked. Deus Ex: HR was another one setup for Eyefinity as well as was Alien: Isolation.

Again, my info may be old but I can assure you that anyone who has used both since 2010 will tell you to go with Eyefinity every time. If you've never used Eyefinity you probably won't know what you're missing then again, but that profile-switching situation was a farce. Simply put, both companies tend to lend more weight to the stuff they developed first and AMD were almost a year ahead on this.

If you're on Nvidia I'd recommend going with a single widescreen monitor like the OP did.
