Looks like Rift S will be announced soon

https://uploadvr.com/oculus-email-rift-s/

I have concerns about inside out tracking for tracking hand controllers but I think oculus have earned enough credit for past devices to give them benefit of doubt before assuming it will be rubbish. Maybe it will be inside out with optional constellation support? (Am sure 2 sensors would be just fine then). (That said for Elite that really won't be an issue)
Also interested in resolution and FOV. All rumours hint this will be a minor upgrade and not a totally new generation device but I will be dissapointed if not at least a slight FOV bump to say 120 or 130.

Resolution wise will be happy with something similar to vive pro or odyssey and am not worried about lenses at all oculus have fantastic lenses in the go and that is their entry level device. Am sure rift s will be as good or better.

uploadvr mention possible fixed ipd so that would almost certainly be a single fixed panel like the oculus go.

only speculation until next week, my prediction is that it will be $299 and will be oculus go screen with fixed ipd, inside out tracking.

I *think* quest will have 2 screens at 90hz so personally I doubt Oculus would go that dramatically backwards to the go screen for what is meant to be the flagship device (hope not anyway)

I hope you're right this was my fear to.
It needs to have physical Ipd adjustment and 90hz to be worth a look .

That probably will be quest wired Quest.

i doubt i would buy it, but if it turned out that Rift S was not a HMD but was a mode of the quest and the quest had a HDMI or DP socket in it, then that could be interesting for many people, so in roaming mode it would use the onboard compute, and in static mode it could be hooked up to a PC (maybe with optional support from the constellation system which is in the existing rift for better tracking).

I doubt it will happen this time but i think in the future an all in 1 hmd like this would be a thing.
