Looks like the 75% attrition rate was off

The official arrival thread is now showing over a 1/3 of the original 1000 have made it to Beagle Point, and more still to arrive - congratulations to all!

To be honest I was thinking that the original estimate of 25% making it was about right, so I'm really pleased we've beaten that number, it's been a hard slog in place.... but fun all the way :D

I might start a Hobbit thread in a bit so we can all talk about our arrivals back in the bubble: something to look forward to!

A Hobbit thread would be good. What surprises me is the number that have made it that were not part of the original 1024, its going to be interesting to compare roster versus non roster. If we get over 50% making it from the original 1024 I shall be moderately impressed.

It's funny, right now it seems that the majority of arrivals is from the first third of the original 1024 or the last third, including late additions.

Also, most of the arrivals are actually MacrosTheBlack. :)

I confess to an arrival rate of 100% for ISHAP Fleet. I could not bring myself to do otherwise :)

Just went through the arrivals thread (up to post number 357), the progress tracker file, and EDSM. Here's what I found:

313 roster commanders announced their arrival in the thread
36 commanders arrived as per the tracker file, on top of those 313
40 commanders arrived as per EDSM, on top of the above
For a total of 389 commanders

The highest roster number in EDSM is 1100, so that gives us an arrival rate of 35% so far.

The FGE fleet is still on route and I suspect a number of commanders have already arrived but don't show up in any of the above resources, or are about to arrive in the next couple of days. There are also 28 commanders in the thread that don't have or didn't state a roster number so some of those might make it to the arrivals list as well. My guess at this point is that the final tally should come in at above 50%.

Caveat: Both the tracker file and EDSM might include commanders that arrived outside the official time frame for arrivals so they might not get counted ultimately, but this post isn't meant as any sort of official statistic but rather to give us an idea of how many of us made it in the end, one way or another.

TL;DR: Thumbs up, Commanders! I'm so proud of y'all!

Good point about EDSM. I just looked at my progress on the expedition according to EDSM and I was at 99.62% and still ongoing, despite actually landing yesterday. I'd forgot to send my final update from EDDiscovery . I'm officially there now on EDSM, yaayyy ;)

Still working on the roster additions, we're currently at around 1,100, and there are around 200 more non-roster pilots from Erimus group who took part in DW at some point, and an unknown number that went in open play.

All in all around 1,300 to 1,400 were involved with the journey at some point... so the final attrition rate figure will need to reflect that... even so, I'm amazed and delighted so many actually made it to BP! :)

Man, that's truly incredible. I remember when I was hesitating to sign up but eventually did, I'm #59 on the roster and honestly when I signed up I thought I'd be bringing up the rear of the list, like I would be one of the last to join. Holy Cow was I off by over a thousand commanders!!! I'm even more amazed at how many actually made it to Beagle Point, I'm proud of all of them.

I am not just surprised, I am humbled by the number of people who stuck with it.

There is no question, this started out as something cool, not is is something massive.

Proud to be one of you.

To paraphrase Marvin:

The first ten thousand light years were the worst and the second ten thousand light years, they were the worst too. The third ten thousand light years I didn't enjoy at all. After that I went into a bit of a decline.”

But I'm glad I made the journey.
