Horizons Looting?

I am sure many of you have come across extraction sites:

But seem some commander looted this one as left undefended (unusually), to find that each unit drops extracted items (Osmium 1, Bauxite 10, Uraninite 2, Painte 1):

I wonder if this type of equipment will be available to commanders in the future? along with automatic defences to chase away scavengers.

Also interesting note on picking up extracted items (Looks like a lump of metal), which you can only tell what it is by looking in cargo hold. On dropping it again comes out in a nice need cargo can.

Well, we had the MB4 Mining Platform in Frontier.....so I suspect we'll have something similar in Horizons-& this PoI certainly seems to serve as a template!

I never played the old Elite games so I don't know how worthwhile they were, but could you imagine dumping a good 100 or so of these from a Type-9 and then coming back to collect them later. Could be a slow method but a steady one to make a lot of money. Load up on mining equipment, deploy them to do their thing, go bring more and more. Then in a few hours/days/weeks start gathering them all up. Like farming in space.

Farming of a different sort. But leads the way into creating something for your commander to make money and sell commodities.
