Lords of Midnight and Doomdarks Revenge

Hi All,

Theres a lot of posts around about ZX spectrum days and I know a lot of us are "of that age" *Cough*.

Along with Elite the bests games of the day are mentioned in the title. Anyone else play thiese for a million hours?

Just to jog the memory further anyone know some of the never mentioned game like Na Nog, R-type, The Biz, Harrier Attack, Valhall (buckets of awesome!), Atic Atac, Enigma Force......and I will finish with Rebel Star Raiders!

Man the hours of fun with very little computing power....and good old rubber keys!

Younger players will think I'm nuts....Kids today! ;)

'Fraid I never had a speccy: Acorn Electron, BBC Master Compact, A3000 and A5000 were my weapons of choice. Aside from Elite, Chuckie Egg was good in the early days and I seem to remember playing a football manager game with my next door neighbour, which we had to load from cassette on the 'leccy.

Fantastic days!

I almost bought a Commodore 64 only because Elite was released for it before it was released for Speccy.

BTW there's a system called Tir Na Nog. :)

LUXOR THE MOONPRINCE. He stands at the Tower of the Moon, looking Southeast to the Downs of Shadows. It is dawn and Luxor is utterly invigorated.

I started with my dad's Atari 2600 (I was very young and barely remember that) and then onto a Commodore +4. The +4 was really annoying because every present I got was a Commodore 64 game... which wasn't compatible :( As there were so few games for the +4 I was down to playing my friend's ZX, BBC Master and whatever PCs I could get my hands on. I spent an insane amount of time on Jet Set Willy, Citadel, Chuckie Egg and some weird space survival game called Exile I think but I only dabbled with Elite as it was quickly obvious it was going to take more time than I could spend at my friend's house. A few years later I made another friend whose dad was a PC enthusiast and got introduced to the fully voice-packed version of Wing Commander 2 (kitties in space!) with a joystick and properly fell in love with space games.

Eventually I got an Acorn A3010 for xmas (which I still have) so I mostly missed out on most of the Amiga/ST era games (no Elite sequels for me :() however I got Arc Elite and promptly lost about 3 years of my life plaguing the cops and becoming Elite. For those that don't know Arc Elite required many more kills to reach Elite status than regular Elite and I wasn't quitting until I made it.

I played Elite, Lords of Midnight and Doomdark's Revenge on my old C64, back in the day. Great times! I have LOM and DDR on my phone, now.

Yup I played Lords of Midnight and Doomdarks Revenge like mad, only managed to complete LOM by playing it through all in one day (parents gave me grief about staying up so late) because the damn save game was so flakey! Never managed to complete DDR until I got the gameboy advance port. Then I bought the recent remake and completed it again. LOVE those games.

Night falls and the foul are abroad....

That takes me back a bit.:)
I played both those games to death, and mist of the others listed. Off to check out the LOM link now.;)
