[LORE] I wanted to get your thoughts on roleplaying and lore in Elite

so, as someone who role plays, would you say the lore to the game is accessible, or would you say it is accessible to the average person trying to get into the world of the game?

if you feel it is unaccessible, what do you think could be done to fix that?

Besides a description in the system info tab in the galaxy map there is not much ingame. And this applies to the lore/well known systems only. So not accessible ingame.
You have to read a lot outside the game.
For me it's ok and is part of the game like reading Drew Wagar's lore section, GALNET, old manauls, Frontier Forum (lore subforum - you found it ;) ), RP/Commanders logs, ... .
There is a lot wisdom out there!

Frontier is definitely trying to create a very broad strokes Lore for the in-game experience. The Powerplayers are all very deeply embedded archetypes, right down to resembling the actors and actresses that would play them. That way you can just look at their portraits and read one of their quotes and have a sense of where they stand in the grand space opera.

I do sometimes wish there were more fine details...not because they are essential in themselves, but because I'm considering writing more in-universe types of stories and when I create the fine details myself, it runs the risk of people reacting 'well that isn't how it works at all'

I have noticed that for the large part Frontier seems very flexible with its inclusion of fan participation. They want the universe in which they tell stories to be flexible, and I like that. It's curated, of course, but that's necessary to preserve a sense of consistency and standard.

Given that there are hundreds of inhabited systems and thousands of places where humans live and where stories happen, it's hard to imagine any kind of story that simply couldn't be too in this setting.
