I actually really want to see the lore heads dive into this topic because I’ve always wanted a timeline of the elite universes technology progression at a wide band kinda level. Nothing like that exists to my knowledge but I too have wanted to write some material but want to weave it with the lore in the background for historical character upbringing.
The frame shift drive is only about 35 yrs old.

Awesome, I've heard of the AI one before. Pretty much no one uses AI, right?
I also didn't know the FSD was so young! So that means we are still in the early stages of exploring our Galaxy, cool.

there were other methods of travel before the FSD. Sub light in Generation ships and something called the Far Away drive. Drew's Lore guides are the way forward though.
This has just made me think, in the next five years when we are playing the next game, "Elite even more Dangerouser" or whatever, what will the Lore be about elite Dangerous? We know about Commander Jameson and what he did in the previous games but what will someone write in their Lore note books about this game?
That's a half formed thought if ever I've had one.
