Lose the fear.

**Internal memo sent on the sub space combobulator channel to all Federation of Pilots**

Dear commanders,

It has become apparent that many commanders have a fear of dying. We need to rid you of this fear.

All commander should be able to earn a 4 or 5 million credits in a day or two. If you're unsure of how to trade in rare commodities to achieve this sum, we'll be happy to advise you further.

We, at combobulator command, feel all commanders should earn at least a few million credits, invest in a viper and fly to a conflict zone and participate in some combat. With a conscious effort to remove the fear of dying in combat.

A fully upgraded combat Viper will cost you roughly around 4 million, with a buy back cost of around 150,000.

Buy it, upgrade it, rag it... If you have a spare million for insurance, you can die several times. Lose the fear.

Why do you assume fear? Maybe some players are in the game for more than the pew pew. :D

I have no idea how to make so much money...

I am happy to managed to get 3 millions in 2 weeks of playtime that I now infested in my cobra mk3 with advanced scanner and stuff like that.

I wish there was a recipe to "lose the spam button". You're not going ot be able to enforce PvP on other people in this game. Live with it. You lost.

I'm sure some people trawl the Interweb for tools to cheat their way to locating trade routes, rare items and dancing girls and can easily cajole themselves into big earnings for zero effort.

Some of us like to explore and discover these things for ourselves; Keep notes, learn from our own experiences.

It will take me ages to earn a Million. Mainly because I am distinctly average at best, but I will get there. Under my own steam and without help, or in spite of it! ;)

I'm quite happy to be told how to earn millions of credits so I can buy and equip an excellent exploration vessel.

If i play for five hours or more i can make 5-800k, I don't really make enough to risk my ship in pvp, and i don't particularly want to start grinding so i can have enough credit to do so. I play the game slowly and enjoy myself that way, but it's not a style of play that allows for regular ship loss.

Exactly mr Dr. Hans Reinhardt, I prefer to discover the environment. My profits are about 20.000-50.000 per trip. Not the big bucks some talk about. But I love it this way. I do not need trading tools at this moment. I try to understand how the economy works and how the relationships between system types are influenced by trade. Great way to explore this little part of the galaxy. My record selling at a star system was 333k Cr. Pure luck because I was able to buy a commodity extremely low and sell it absurdly high. It was a once in a simulated lifetime it seems. Prices are much more stable right now and I 'discovered' that when you trade in multiple commodities per run the supply and demand remain more stable as to run with a cargo hold full of 1 type of commodities and dumping it on the market. Long term trading between the same stations is possible this way.

And this without fear of human players killing me for nothing. Real acting pirates would be welcome.

making credits, for me, is just a side effect of playing the game. It's nice when I can suddenly afford something new and nice, but it is not WHY i'm playing.

90% of the playerbase don't even make 500k in 1-2 days. Besides mining and exploration you don't need much credits anyway to do what you want.

I partially agree with the OP, in most games where you can actually "Lose" things people are afraid of dying, this applies to both PVP and PVE

then again ... quite a few people play elite and are not interested in combat.
i guess it all boils down to, fly the way that makes you happy hehe

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who plays the game like this. I've now got 400K and I've really got nothing to spend it on. My ship it tooled up to my liking and I see no reason as yet to change my Cobra for anything else.

Join the empire, there is plenty of glory to go around! The only fear a pilot of the imperials is an unglorious death.

Another solution to reduce fear, which I favour, would to be to increase the level of insurance so that ship loss would be be less painful.
Increase the profit margin on goods carried so that a cargo lost would be less painful.
Have at least partial cargo survive destruction, making piracy as a profession less painful.
Increased piracy would increase bounty hunting opportunities.

In my opinion the game needs an excitement boost and a bit of rebalance towards pewpew.

Oh god I've seen posts like that in previous online sandboxes.

In how many games did you already try to bully talk people into PVPing so you can have more fights? Did it ever work? Nope.

Once again, my OP never mentioned PvP.

Earning some credits to get a decent ship, and a healthy credit buffer, so you can go play in a conflict zone without worrying about losing your ship can be done in solo, pve group, as well as online play.

Too bad trading rares is only slightly more exciting and fun than washing dishes.

You say this as a joke but since I've been off work I've done lots of things around the house instead of trading rares. As well as the washing up, I've fixed a dripping tap and sanded down the skirting board and doors in my hallway.
