I'm lucky if a can reap a grand from a weekend's play. If i ever get to afford nice things, the last thing i'll do is risk losing them in game i can't even pause. Solo all the way for me...
Too bad trading rares is only slightly more exciting and fun than washing dishes.
Hehe. You know, one day I hope to see a rare. Maybe even trade one. But I haven't yet, and I don't really feel like I am missing anything for not having done so.
And that is also my response to the OP. I play ED in order to have the full experience of the galaxy ... to be able to do things like zooming through the outskirts of an unexplored system and gazing out the windows in an effort to spot undiscovered planets via parallax effects, or spending a couple of hours prospecting my way through a planetary ring in search of that one precious metal I am hoping to stumble across. Most of that doesn't pay anything remotely like 5M credits a day, but it pays me richly via my enjoyment of the experience. Why should I have to throw away the type of experiences that are the entire reason that I bought this game, and instead just exploit the most exploitable credit-earning mechanic in order to get rich quick in order to participate in a conflict zone? I've no problems if that's your motivation (although it would make me a little sad if your experience of the width and breadth of the game is actually limited to that component). But please don't characterize my choice of ways to play the game as "fear".
Why do you assume fear? Maybe some players are in the game for more than the pew pew.![]()
**Internal memo sent on the sub space combobulator channel to all Federation of Pilots**
Dear commanders,
It has become apparent that many commanders have a fear of dying. We need to rid you of this fear.
All commander should be able to earn a 4 or 5 million credits in a day or two. If you're unsure of how to trade in rare commodities to achieve this sum, we'll be happy to advise you further.
We, at combobulator command, feel all commanders should earn at least a few million credits, invest in a viper and fly to a conflict zone and participate in some combat. With a conscious effort to remove the fear of dying in combat.
A fully upgraded combat Viper will cost you roughly around 4 million, with a buy back cost of around 150,000.
Buy it, upgrade it, rag it... If you have a spare million for insurance, you can die several times. Lose the fear.
