I've been using Elite for a while, set up custom controller bindings many times. Seems like the game loses them every time it updates. I got sick of it and just used the default bindings for the xbox one controller. Now after an update, the bindings are gone, nothing to choose from in the contoller options. Can someone point me to an article to fix this annoying bug? Thanks!

I don't know why you have no option in the drop-down box - nothing at all?
Bindings woes all (OK - usually) boil down to people using "custom" - if you rename your binds (not just the file name) you should never lose them (only "custom" gets overwritten by the game on errors etc) - I have not lost mine in over 6 years. So have a look at this to sort you out for the future:

One other thing, don't keep copies / backups in the same directory, it can cause changes you make to not be saved. Keep backups elsewhere.

keybindings can reset if you visit the control section without one of your usual devices used to play the game ie hotas , xbox pad etc not plugged in or at that present moment is undetected by windows as it thinks your just using keyboard and mouse it simply rewrites your binds for you...

Like Para said, Elite's handling of bindings is.. not ideal.

Like Para I haven't had a problem with my bindings files, and I didn't even rename them until recently, but I have seen other people whose bindings vanish all the time it is a mystery.
Yes if your controller/joystick etc isn’t switched on and connected in the same socket when you launch the game then the software doesn’t recognise them and uses the built in bindings.I believe the issue is that my xbox one controller had turned off when I loaded the game. I did manage to fix it by quitting the game, making sure the xbox controller was powered and then starting the game. Later today my crew elite pilot disappeared and I had to submit a ticket for that.
