Lost all my progress in Odyssey

After a server crash, I lost my progress in Odyssey. It is suggested to start a new game. In Horizons progress remained. When logging in with a Steam account, authorization is obtained, and with a normal login, a warning is issued that you need to buy the game. Developers, what have you done?

1. Post a support ticket.
2. Check your Visual Basic installation for corruption.

Was it your servers or the game servers?

The launcher has the ability to select Odyssey, and when loading, the main menu prompts you to start a "New Game"

I asked support for help, but for the sake of interest, I'll drop two screenshots, so what could this be.

Yeah, don't restart, the data and progress is going to be there on their servers. I'd wait for support to look at it.

Earlier I said that it happens, but now I'm not sure I've seen this kind of problem before.

Sometimes we have problems with launcher saying we need to buy the game, which is a sign of problems with connection to authorization servers if there's a problem with them and it usually doesn't last long. I thought this was the case, but this seems to be something else.

Let's hope Support will be able to help.

Unfortunately support has not responded yet.
Last night, when the servers were up again, I accidentally clicked on Start in Odyssey, and a loading cutscene started, where training begins on the planet and you fly in a ship with an NPC. I immediately did a reset Alt+F4. Perhaps after the introductory video there would be a download of my progress from Horizons, but I don’t want to risk starting everything from the beginning if something goes wrong.
The fact is that this happened after a global server failure. Am I the only one who got so "lucky"? I did not find any other appeals with a similar problem here and in Steam.

Sounds like you got very unlucky mate, and to have had no joy with the good advice given here, I'm afraid you're in a bit of a pickle - all you can do really is wait for support to get back to you.

I'm guessing that will be in the morning as it's the weekend, as it's possible that the things they can normally fix remotely on weekends isn't enough, and they need to access something different.

They are normally very quick and helpful though so keep the faith mate. I worry that if you reset the account you might still be in the same position, as it sounds like something stuffed up at their end.

Very frustrating I realize, but spend today's game time plotting your own galactic domination whilst waiting!

Ps - find a different galaxy though, this one is mine...

You might be right - it's better to not risk it, if starting new game would overwrite your progress saved on Frontier servers. Better to wait for Support response.
Let us know how it goes.

And it seems you're indeed rather "lucky", as I've not heard of anyone else having this problem.

Yes, I will wait for the decision of the support service. Thank you all for your help, I did not think that the local community is so friendly and caring. I'll post here as soon as the issue is resolved. Good luck to all :)

Just like in real life, the type of response you get from the community all depends on your attitude. Something a fair few forum users can’t seem to understand 🤷🏼‍♂️

In general, I decided to take a chance and, without waiting for a response from the support service, I decided to go through the introductory training in the Odyssey again. After passing, the data from the Horizons was loaded and I ended up where I was before the failure of the servers. It was unsettling, but it's all good. Perhaps someone will need this experience in the future, although I do not wish this to anyone. Thanks again for your support.

Would the server restart cause genetic samples collected to disappear? I remembered at the end of a few sessions that I had done a bit of biology so popped in to a genetics store but found that I had no samples? It only just occurred to me that the server did crash during the evening while I was playing - but nothing else seemed to be affected after I logged back in.

That's interesting, for a start I guess it very much depends on where the samples are stored before selling, locally or server side. I haven't lost any samples so far but will keep an eye out for this.
