lost all ship control

so i just came to close to a white dwarf and dropped out of cruise, no problem i thought, thats happenend before.

however this time im greeted with a never ending barrage off all sorts of overload damage errors , my ship is flailing around wildly, im taking continous damage
ive reloaded the game several time now and still no control over the ship, it responds to thrust input now but no manouvering still just flailing, i cant align the ship with escape vector and by now my canopy has popped wth is going on

is this a new thing or a bug ? i'd hate to lose the conda and the merits that will go with it

nearly 1700 hours of playtime and i had no clue dropping out into the cone meant certain death -_-
which is fine of course but if it had to be that way at least make it swift, i just self destructed the anaconda because i didnt want to wait until my life support ran out lol
the pilot should have been roasted when the canopy popped :p

Consolatory rep. :)

So, if you are unlucky and come into the system as the cone sweeps your way, you're done for?

I think he accidentally flew right into it, since he mentioned dropping due to getting too close. Personally I've never found a cone facing the entry point, but that's not to say it couldn't happen. I suppose. Maybe there is code to prevent it... /shrug

IIRC I’ve read on here that people have actually managed to low wake through the escape vector and survive. Both times this happened to me so far I didn’t manage to do it though.

Oh yeah , sorry. Yeah, he did mention that!

I hate to say this as it's already too late but you can survive this event if you boost out of the cone first and then begin the jump. It takes a few minutes in normal space but I've managed it myself twice (out of 2 attempts) so I do know it's doable before the canopy blows off.

You cant. There were instances after jet cones were first added to the galaxy of folks having that happen to 'em or of logging out near one then logging back in to find themselves in normal space in the cone and doomed. FD decided that it was just too unfair for even venturing into a system with an active neutron star or white dwarf to involve a potential inescapable RNG-kaboom so provided you didnt logout from already in the death-zone you always spawn into the instance outside the cone.
