lost civilizations

Ok we all know the game is huge and there is a lot to explore out there but the question is are there lost civilizations out there
if we go exploring to the other side of the galaxy can we run across small clusters of people, and if so let them sell stuff we can
either use on our ship that no one else has like higher end weapon or better scanner or something cool, good we can sell and
call them ultra rare commodity because if you travel 50,000ly or more there should be something out there to find. not just
planets to scan

thanks.

If you mean alien civilisations, we unfortunately can't land on planets that are capable of supporting higher life forms. Our track record of first contacts is not great either
Besides, you are implying that a civilisation on the other end of the galaxy would be easy to communicate to and interested in our virtual money.

Regarding lost human civilisations, you can find several generation ships documenting failed colonisation attempts. The rather fast and efficient drive technology we use now is just a few years old, generation ships were expected to travel many years but no ship would reach the other side of the galaxy. What we know as the human bubble is the result of many centuries of development. In recent years the Colonia region had expanded rapidly and there are now many human bases in nebulas.
Engineers or tech brokers can already provide special equipment. Some even expect a bit of deep space exploration is a prerequisite, others live in Colonia to begin with. It is just not 50,000ly from Sol.
The next patch in a few days will bring new things to discover all over the galaxy and the legend of Raxxla let a lot of explorers plan expeditions from the start.

While the idea has merit I just can't go for it due to the new data sharing system in the codex. You see I would like to keep some discoveries secret as an addition to game play, but the moment you find these things they will all pop up in the codex. It would be nice to find an alien wreck somewhere with salvagable stuff that you could share with friends or even just keep for yourself. Ok it sounds selfish, but with the addition of suitable game play it could make a valuable contribution to the game. So turning off the codex sharing system at times would be useful.

and if so let them sell stuff we can either use on our ship that no one else has like higher end weapon or better scanner or something cool,

Which would basically become universal the moment they appeared in the codex, so really a pointless exercise and one that would get non-explorers up in arms about because they don't want to have to jump 50kly to get that better weapon, "it MUST be available in the bubble or it's just not fair to us non-explorers" etc, but you get the idea. It's UES (universal entitlement syndrome), "nobody can have stuff better than me, the games broken, I'm quitting unless I get the super secret alien wormhole jump drive NOW!!!!"

Ok rant over I guess, they just don't make games for people like me these days :S
