Lost expansion

Local news tells me my PMF has expanded from a non-native system but gives no indication of the target and a search of possible locations has come up empty. The last time it expanded from this system it skipped over a five-faction system and went for a seven-faction system further out.
They seem Happy, but has anyone any idea what's going on?

We have no squadron allegiances - too mean to lay out the cash - but your question might need some explanation to clarify the relationship between squadrons, expansion and reporting - it's certainly something I need educating on.

If your squadron is aligned with a faction, there's an option for "Squadron Allegience"

It lists all the systems your faction is present, their current state, influence levels, all assets owned and progress in any conflicts. Basically, an at-a-glance view of all the information pertinent to the faction you support. Note, it doesn't show the influence levels of other factions in that system, so if you drop from 50% to 35%, it won't be obvious where that 15% went (i.e if it went to a single faction via some well crafted negative effects, or if it's just generally distributed amongst other factions).

so, out here 90% of the way to colonia, I can review exactly what's going on with my faction in seconds.

But all the other expansions we've been involved in in the last year or so have had the name of the newly entered system posted in the local news. That hasn't happened this time.

Just note, once your squadron pledges allegience to a faction, it can't be changed. You need to create a new squadron.

Ah good... I wasn't confident enough to actually say that myself, but I suspected, since I tried to do that last time we expanded and couldn't find it. Thought it might've been PEBCAK.

I doubt it too, but who knows?

I've created a squadron just to have access to the data and the summary exactly matches my external records: this may really be a lost expansion.

FWIW, the local news has historically had issues where not all factions display relevant articles. This could be a similar case.

Yes, that seems more likely. "I'd doubt that anyway" was a little terse, but I meant that those messages are unlikely to come from the client side.

That's the sort of detail I was expecting - all I got was the announcement that the faction had expanded.
Still can't find where it supposedly ended up.

Yeah, the destination appearing is flakey. Sometimes I have seen it in the system that expanded, but not others. Sometimes it's everywhere.
I also rely on the squad page.

I have a vague recollection of not taking any missions for that last expansion - too many other tasks on the go - perhaps that was a factor.
I let the faction expand again, this time running at least one mission per day. After five days the expansion took place with proper reporting of new location and they're now settling in.
