Lost hundreds of millions to 2.1!!! AI and Pirates OH MY! Thank you FD!

That's right! I did a character reset and now all my outfitted ships, 120+ million in credits, and ranks are all history.

I haven't played since the holidays 2015 since so many other games have come out. I had a lot of credits, ships, and was just in a rut. And most of my latest wealth had come from the Robigo runs, and using the open/solo exploit (which I will no longer even attempt as it really was an exploit). But I can tell you, it's actually been quite fun so far with the Horizons and Engineers updates. Missions are far better than they used to be. And it's much easier to start out as a newbie and get credits to upgrade ships and buy new ships.

I've been only doing missions for the past 2 days since my reset, and went from the Sidewinder, to my outfitted Eagle, to a Cobra MKIII for the extra jump range and cargo space. The extra cargo space allows me to stack missions, and do higher-paying missions that carry more cargo.

I haven't done any combat yet since my reset, but I'm pleased with the reports on the new AI, and that RES locations are actually scaled like their names suggest: Hazardous, High, Low. Before, I could take my Vulture to a HazRES and kill Pythons and Anacondas in a wing with smaller ships and still win. That is no longer the case. I like the fact that running missions is more dangerous. It keeps you alert and on your toes.

The "bug" where pirate NPC's attack you for cargo that you don't even have, I'm wondering if it's a bug or glitch from the game being updated and people having glitched cargo that "disappeared" or became glitched in the new patches. So far, I have not been attacked while I've had zero in my cargo.

For those that are getting attacked by pirates and you think you have no cargo, check again. After completing my missions (I had no more missions, and therefore thought my cargo was empty), I was attacked by a pirate for my cargo which I thought was empty. When I made it to a station, turns out I did have cargo and data. Apparently, as part of your mission rewards, you also get cargo. So make sure you're really empty before venturing out if you don't want pirates bothering you.

The reason for my reset is because I wanted to earn my credits and ranks with the new systems in place, the right way. People who had high combat ranks pre-AI upgrade are quickly finding that their skills weren't what they thought they were. And have to make adjustments to adapt to the new AI.

So, just wanted to thank FD for the amazing updates to the game. And I look forward to the future!

I reset a few days after 2.1 dropped. No regrets, I'm having a blast starting over.

When I logged yesterday I had extra 1.5m cr in my account. It was for the ship I lost on my previous character from the first weekend of 2.1. Don't really want the money, but it means I can really pimp out the Sidey.

You could always start over again. Then you won't have the money. :D

Or you could donate it through any number of the donate missions.

Did you donate your fortune? Before resetting? :)

Y ou must miss your big ships. I'm still working my way up. I just bought a Vulture and just outfitting it costs a fortune.

Big ships are a mark of status, maybe, and I personally enjoy using them from time to time.
But I still spend 80% of my time in small ships. I love fighting in a Courier, I explore in T6 and I do missions in a Keelback. Money are nice, no denying that, but it's not what makes me enjoy the game so much.

I did not. Once the updates were downloaded, I went straight for the "delete save" screen. That was my choice that I had already planned. I didn't want to log in and see all that money and ships and start to have second thoughts.
