Lost in a Green DBx

So i have decided to leave the bubble again on a "little" adventure; i am just going outside and may be some time.

Im taking my DBx wherever it takes me, i have no set end destination and won't return until my hull is below 40% (or when im bored which will probably happen)

i have a modified FSD and am loving it already 9 jumps to the coalsack nebula :O

Distance from start
700LY - too many shiney planets.

Just leaving civilisation

Like it!

have fun on your adventures!
Maybe you could head in my direction and meetup when i approach the bubble ;)

Cheers,

I love the way the DBE looks, I just get so frustrated when flying it! I plan on buying one again though just for local exploring trips around the bubble, but when I go far that scoop speed just ticks me off.

Looks good in green though. Safe journeys commander!

The DBx fuel scoop is fine, time is relative I'm exploring and scanning and looking at system map while scooping, by time I'm done checking the system map I'm full again, I can understand for buckballing or jonking it can become a chore but iv no set destination.

I need to be slower and more careful in the DBx anyway because no AMFU

I'm always in open exploring so it would be good if our paths crossed even though the lottery odds are probably better.
I am heading coreward for a while before going north as far as I can get I think, that's the "plan" but this could change

If you're referring to max range with depleted fuel tank, jumps need to be manually plotted. Select destination system in GalMap, you will not be able to plot route so just drop out of GalMap back to cockpit, line up target and hit the J button...

Route plotting system uses 'normal' max jump range with full tank and doesn't increase range of each jump as reflect decreased fuel load..

I wont need to manually plot until I'm near the edge :) just happy with the high 30s average jumping

Well its been a while and a few things have happened some unfortunate...

The Noisy Cricket met its demise via a wonderful Xbox Horizons bug where leaving orbital cruise into glide mode the game crashed, upon re-loading i was at the re-buy screen, the final picture i have is just as i was combing the surface of the planet i was about to land on...

green1_zpsjflbtktw.png

i did consider submitting a ticket etc but i was only 2kly out and just started playing, Tickets normally take forever to get sorted (i assume never submitted one) and i just wanted to play the game, Maybe you guys could advise if FD would re-imburse my credits and scan data or if its a lost cause?

iv have never lost a ship in exploration before especially as it wasn't my fault :(

i.e the rebuy was only 700k and 2kly is not a huge loss.

Anyway.. so i decided to paint it red because i didnt want to be reminded every-time i took a screenshot of the game crash that caused me to lose my ship to an unknown force (i assume the planet surface).

i had some time to make up so i did a bit of buckyballing, thanks to bookmarking i knew where i was and headed back out

it wasnt long until i was back on the same dreaded planet that claimed the last DBx, but i had to scan it and search for the Green DBx - Not there, in case you're wondering :)

I found a HMC planet out in the wilderness and thought id take a look around

Found myself 2 Polonium in 10 minutes :D i wasn't even looking for anything just found a collection of 3 metallic meteorites and polonium was in two of them!

anyway time to put the DBx away and continue later on

The SRV and landing on planets is slowing me down, i keep finding planets and going oooo i need to land there, i also found a 50 item system undiscovered which i had to scan everything...

Here is an interesing (to me) planet with a huge crater in it, the edge was 5km high, i landed half way up hoping to find metallic meteorites, sadly nope

The core is getting alot brighter, this dont really do it justice, but definitely looks brighter on my screen

still no ELWs or even water worlds seem to be lacking in this area of space :(

You will find plenty in the core ;)
btw i'm approaching Thor's eye just in case you were in the area

im on Xbox, not sure how instancing works or if it works cross platform it was rumoured to work when 2.1 was release but i've yet to see a PC CMDR due to my exploration occupation and the vastness of space

Another proud CMDR who hears the call of the void and answers! I salute you, good sir! Fly safe and stay frosty out there o7

Been a few days since i updated and i have covered alot of ground, there have been un-scoopable brown fields and fields of K stars which has made plotting easy.

I have also noticed recently the star density is very sparse how high i am, meaning my average jumps are ranging wildly between 8LY - 41LY, therefore i decided to head downward while still continuing forward because 60+ jumps to cover 1kly was getting tedious especially as all the systems just had a star and nothing else in them.

Now im back averaging 38LY in less than 30 jumps and systems which actually contain planets :D

a little picture heavy so i have hidden them behind a spoiler :)

Manages to capture a solar flare image, shame i didnt video it in hindsight

Waterworld, still couldn't see Kevin Costner though

a giant WW ringed - even though i thought it was a gas giant but scanned it anyway as the DSS started scanning it while scooping, so though why not, then went to check it out

Slide19_zps9iccsus9.jpg

Found a 7G world... thought about it extensively for 5 minutes while i orbited it, it was high metal content... maybe polonium on such a hard planet to land on... could also end in disaster..

After a 20 minute careful decent i was down, zero damage... zero polonium either...

Back into the black making progress

Slide25_zpstvkeanki.jpg

Found this interesting red moon to explore with loads of canyons and mountains

Slide27_zpsn2k21ymd.jpg

And that's where i left it, landed in a canyon for the night to explore the surface another time.

Slide28_zps9dhvfqpp.jpg

I feel like i actually made some progress this time, perhaps it was the single star and no planet systems which meant i didn't have anything shiny to look at or land on...

i have also being ignoring certain nebula for the way back, but there is one upcoming on my route which i should make in another 1000ly so looking forward to that.

im also at that distance where i feel like i want to turn back, i think that's because im in a small ship and i dread losing data on the return trip and the further i go the more i risk losing, small ship returning vs NPC's will be fun... but im not heading back yet, maybe its the honk scanning talking...

Total distance travelled so far 8,378LY
Distance from Sol 6,208LY
Hull 100%
SRV 100%

managed to sneak in an hour last night and got ever closer to the nebula, just parked outside, there was a blue hue on the screen but it didn't show up in the screenshot.

anyway Enjoy!

The most uneven planet surface ive seen so far, was difficult to land on this thing, and the SRV was a nightmare on it, when i recalled the ship it was on top of a big mountain and the srv struggled to get up to it... note to self leave high G moons alone if they're hilly....

Slide2_zpsi0lambj0.jpg

Jumped into the middle of these bad uns.. 87% heat and SC out of there no problem, i love the DBx heat management.

Another rocky world, i don't learn....

Slide1_zps6ulogkjx.jpg

30 LY outside the nebula, was a bit late so i didn't quite make it, a few WW's and atmospheric HMC's tied me up for a while while i scanned them.

Slide6_zpstxnchbki.jpg

Broke the 10KLY mark on distance travelled and its the furthest i've been in a DBx

Total distance travelled so far 10,389LY

Disappointing nebula no colours :( - black holes though - lots of, but you can't see them...

Screenshot-Original.png

a little disappointed with the nebula visit, wasn't really what i was expecting.. just felt like another system, if anything the nebula looked better from outside, anyway time to press on with some serious jonking

Total distance travelled 17,823LY
Hull 100%
SRV 100%

Boom!

sag_zpsq9y0wp83.png

On my travels i had another xbox crash as i entered witch space, fair enough you might say, but upon reloading my modules had all taken ~5% damage and my hull was - 3%, i havent put a scratch on this DBx and this flippin game crashes....

anyway im alive, DBx is still in good shape, but that put me off going further currently so i've headed back

now thats out the way..

Here's a few more from recent endeavours

The constant honking on the way back was wearing thin, i decided to take a break and get the SRV out, Watching the sun set over then edge, better get to this POI i found before it gets dark
Slide1_zpscvqwmhg4.jpg

The sun setting on the planet cast some great shadows
Slide2_zps0eswt67g.jpg

I found a data cache? and scanned it, there was also a broken SRV & skimmers here no idea what had gone on

and popped in for a closer look
Slide9_zpsa8uknpe9.jpg

Stopped just outside the bubble (what i call just outside) about 30 jumps from the coal sack, and ~40 jumps back to inhabited space, my dreams have now been full of witch space and ED FSD sounds
