Lost my brand new Cutter... three times within the first 24 hours!

Iv got the big three in my fleet, apart from losing a couple of Sidewinders when learning the game in the early days & buying 2 Suicidewinders to jump back to the bubble from Jaques, Iv only ever lost my 'Conda - once.

I had landed on some planet somewhere & had returned home from the 'beerhouse' after an afternoon of refreshment. On trying to take off, I somehow managed, quite quickly I might add, to turn my 'Conda upside down & continued to bash the living daylights out of it until it finally popped. I just stared at the re-buy screen for ages wondering how I managed to do it.

Congratulations OP! what splendid feats! May leave the ship docked?
You will make millions.. ;) Cheers Cmdrs
True true :)

Never seen dc boost my cutter. It's a stupid thing to do within 7km of anything.
In space it does it quite regularly for me when you engage it far out of the station.

Wow. I've been playing for 21 months (granted with a lot of restarts) but I have to admire how much money some folks have accumulated. I am always scrambling for cash. Plus the grind for the top rank-locked ships. And I mean grind. Tried it once to get a Clipper and promptly took 6 weeks off of ED after 3 days of trying.
I like to trade - among other things - but I will never have the rank to buy a Cutter.
The only thing that felt exploity was Quince, but that just gave me the last rank and the frame shift drive, around ~200 millions. I really touched many aspects and tried almost every type of mission, getting the right exploration missions (although these are rare) can get you these multistop short range trips where you get >20M in less than an hour, but there are many other nice opportunities which can even give more, its amazing how much profits improve if you stick to a good area and get reputation up with everyone. Maybe I just played too much in the last months.
But not sure what you are doing. I never understood restarting, you can always go back into the smaller ships if you want anyway, so why drop credits, reputation and rank? Different people different priorities I suppose :)

You know, if you're going to step away from your computer for any length of time, just log out. You're not in combat, so you'll be logged out instantly. Yes, it'll take you a bit to log back in, but it's quicker than having to remake the rebuy on a 600 million credit machine.
Yes, but it does not kill the >5min flight time and finishes the trade which I needed to get done before I leave in the morning... yes you are right, greed and stupid :)

It makes me wonder what's filling up his slots.
Here's my 704 cargo Cutter A-rated with A6 shields/shield boosters.
You'll get 720 cargo if you ditch the docking computer, store the discovery scanner at one of the stations you're trading at, and just pick up a docking computer at one of those stations. The things are everywhere and they're only 1500 credits, just remember to pick up the ADS again when you leave in a week or two.

Yes, I have an ADS equipped, and I was also very quick with equipping because I wanted to finally get flying this thing, so outfitting not very well thought-out. Thanks for your comments, especially the link, will check!

You can prevent the docking computer to boost by deploying your landing gear before letting it take control. Very useful.

Don't expect too much from the docking computer, always be ready to take back control.

Excellent tip. I will remember that when I get my Cutter.
