Lost my Dangerous crew pilot...the agony of finding another good photo

Not a complaint or rage about losing npc crew to perma-death.

Nope, while it took awhile to level my harmless to Dangerous npc pilot (just here and there stuff, no dedicated camping), 99.5% of what sucks the most of losing my pilot is the semi nice photo.

Hired/fired exactly 54 pilots to get my 55th hired pilot. My stats now say 55 hired, 1 lost.

I'm off to RNG spam crew lounge to find another non-hideous looking photo.

I reckon the game doesn't want you to have any SLF AI pilot above expert because I always seem to lose my ship fighting AI when I get to level my SLF pilot past master rank.

Maybe the game code increases the AI difficulty/DPS/hitpoints in relation to your SLF pilot rank.

I got rid of three pink-haired feminist-looking monstrosities by...

1. Attacking a Deadly Anaconda wing in my Keelback.
2. Attacking a prison Ship in my T-9.
3. Getting blackout drunk and waking up to a shiny new T-9 with no NPC.

Now I have a Butch sounding guy who's second name is "Wolf" and uses the immortal line "We live to fight another day CMDR". So I'm happy.

Although I've just bought a Crusader so he's probably got a limited life expectancy.

holy carp....never really looked in my netLogXXX before but viewing it now - killed yesteday in Balante after taking off from Diaguandri so finding right netLog was pretty easy. My directory has 190 netLogs going back quite a few months.

All I see that I can interpret is hundreds of lines of being attacked by the Fer de lance and Vulture from my assassination mission, then waking up and undocking from the neared prison detention at Zhao Tzu

there are hundreds of preceeding lines of FDL attacks followed by:

All I recognize out of this mess is I know it is right time and date, saw above it my wake entry from Diaguandri to Balante, then FDL + Vulture spam attacks all over the logs, and the filter I searched on since I've been to Zhao Tzu exactly once (reason I woke up there is I had a lame 400 cr fine didn't pay off earlier so on rebuy screen I only had wake up at detention option)

Either I fell asleep for what looks like thousands of lines of FDL hits, or I'm reading this wrong. I'll send it in to cust service just to see if they can interpret and tell me what actually killed me. I can't see what looks like any kind of actual death event or kill line.

Your Journal file should give you better information, located here:

These logs can be read and displayed by programs like EDDiscovery:

I was parked on ground, then golliath rammed me, it exploded, station killed me. YEAH MY FAULT MY ! Asked support for rebuy.

I mean what's the point of speeding if you get shot while you STAND STILL?

I call it pilot tinder. I've gone through a few hundred, partially because when I find a good one I'll get rid of them if I don't like their voice. (there ought to be a verbal greeting)

You would think after people told you their life story you remember their voice. Perhaps the drinks are always too strong.

my current crewmember is called Katherine Kirk, she used to work for the Federation before me. for this reason, and this reason alone, i simply never use her in open, there are too many things that can go wrong that has nothing to do with skill, ganked by a wing etc. i also never use her, when i go thargoid hunting, or when i have a ship that doesnt have god shields, it takes the magic away, that i have to totally and utterly babysit this crew member, my only hope is that they make some sort of way of getting crew back if something goes wrong, until they, they have made the enjoyment of using crew for me at least 136.23 percent less than it could have been.

I really wish the crew mechanics were re-done. The current model is so simplistic it hurts.

Someone suggested that crewmembers should rank up quickly to your own combat rank, then slow down considerably. I also find it rather insulting that they take a profit share regardless if they are active or not. And finally there's the perma-death of crewmembers and... well, their often "unique" looks.

They are basically a luxury, rather than a utility. Useful only for combat PvE players, but not at all required. For explorers they don't do anything, while their help to traders is probably a bit debatable (still talking about PvE here). For PvP they are probably completely useless.

I know a highly ranked SLF can do some damage and help out in PvE, but it's going to be expensive getting there.

BTW... does anyone know if crewmembers affect CG rankings? I.e. if a crewmember takes 15%, then if I kill a 1000cr bounty target for a CG... does that count the whole 1000cr towards the CG goal or only 850cr?

I wouldn't bother if I didnt have to re-train them. But if I'm picking a pilot for life, you can bet it's gonna be a good one.

so true.. my 1st crew lady looked ok but i liked her voice, i guess i got lucky because i didnt search much.

my new one looks ok, but she sounds like she has been smoking 20 a day for the last decade. Maybe something to do with her previous job!.

(erm, no offence meant if someone in Frontier Towers did the voice work - :D )

i too would love a point expansion spent solely on ships crew. i also bet there would be people happy to drop coin for it.

I wish they'd just add the ability to make your own using holo-me.
Name them and give them a backstory.

Hiring and firing costs a meager 15k. I have hired and fired dozens of pilots in the harmless slot to get a face, name and backstory I can live with.

Only what you're paid counts towards the cg goal, so yeah, crew reduces that, too...

What, there are different voices? I must be unlucky because all my ugly potato people have sounded the same and it's the irritating, cocky top-gun US accent that annoys me.

"Hey, I'm not the target commander" gets real annoying when they are the ones voluntarily flying through laser beams or crashing into my parked ship.

There are three female and at least three male voices. They seem to be roughly correlated with the apparent age of the NPC and in my experience (I hired/fired almost 400 of them to get a rough idea of the probabilities), you are much less like likely to get duplicates of the ones you already have.

It might be quicker to just rename them all Bloaty McBloatface.

My new hire, Emmalina, would probably be offended by this... if she wasn't locked in the head with an Onionhead pipe. [where is it]
