Lost my Sag A* Virginity

And I must say I enjoyed the sights along the way. When they appeared anyway.

Sag A* itself is impressive too, I spent a few hours there alone just viewing the distortion effect it has on the surrounding stars.

Not sure I've caught the explorer bug as such, but if I do head out again, I'd like some ideas of where I could go for some impressive sights as they are, unfortunately, few and far between. Although with Horizons being released in a matter of hours, perhaps that will change when I can land on planets?

Also, for the more Credit minded explorers out there, how would 15mill Credits be considered as a total value for data sold (including first discoverer of multiple High Metal and/or Water Worlds). Is that a poor amount to earn from a 50k Ly round trip or was that a good haul? I only ask so I can guage roughly what I might expect should I make another trip.

Depends on your exploration style Cmdr...do you scan every body in every system you jump in to? Or do you only scan the star? Or something in between. Personally I would be disappointed with 15mil after 50KLY but then I tend to scan most of the bodies (except iceballs).

Congrats on reaching Sag A*

I was surprised to earn 46M from my trip to Sag A* and back. I certainly don't scan everything so I'm guessing my earnings are perhaps slightly more than the average you can expect.

Around the core (if your still there). there a tons of planetary nebula like: DRYOI PRUAE LX-T E3-996
They are sometimes pretty darn stunning. I've been hunting them for a good few weeks now, 62 total, 20 of which previously unclaimed :)

Aside from that I always found Barnards loop area the prettiest, giant stars like Rigel and Betelgeuse, nebula like Messier 78, black hole systems like Mintaka. Fine Ring nebula is worth a visit too back near the bubble.

Edit: Also Congrats!

Well done Commander o7

But, yeah, 15mil sounds a bit lower that I wold expect if you were scanning in systems. Did you have the Advanced and Surface scanners? Using the basic ones doesn't pay as much.

Best place to get inspiration from is the sticky: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=139049

All kinds of good stuff in there. From tips, to exploration journals, to sightseeing hot spots. :)

Nicely done, sir! Welcome to the Sag A club :)

By the way, don't be in a hurry to leave the core. There are TONS of rare stars, neutron stars and black holes to be found. I also found the vast majority of ELWs there.

Thanks for the tips guys. Got this post bookmarked for reference now.

In answer to a few questions, I brought a DSS and ADS with me, and honked my ADS every time I jumped. I scanned several planets and objects but not many and also recieved first discoverers for most of them. It didn't last long though as I was over excited about getting to Sag A* so rushed the trip to it, then got excited about Horizons so rushed the home trip too.

Those suggesting I visit places on my way back, I appreciate it but I was already home when I made the post, however I may make another trip in the future so it's good to have some options available for then.

Congrats on your epic voyage. On the way to Sagittarius A* myself at the moment although it will be at least 23 days before I get there.

As regards 15 million for a 50 KLy trip, I would be very very disappointed with this amount. I got 10 million for a 5 kLy trip on a previous exploration although I do honk every system and detail scan an awful lot of planets and stars. I was hoping that on a successful return fro Sag A* I would rank up to elite with over 100 million collected. Perhaps I am being far too optimistic.
