Lost of lots of work....again

Hi,

I just started up Planet and all I made last night in the last hour has been vanished. Itried the 2 last auto saves,....0 result.

How is this possible and how, even more important, can I prefend this in the future.

Have you tried checking your actual save game files? An autosave never saves over your saved game file automatically. It is separate file and could possibly be the file you are after? Play > My Parks

Moving to how do I

Well there is no normal save of the parc from last night, only the autosaved ones .
Anmd how do I check the size...I do have plenty of space on the SSD.

Did you save the game yourself? Or do you always rely on autosave? As it is possible that something went wrong with autosave. I tend to only use it as a backup if something goes wrong mid play and always save my game before closing the game.

Relying on only Autosave is dangerous no matter what situation you have. There might be things happening elsewhere on the computer, outside of Frontier's control, that could corrupt the save process. As WingardiumLevicoa said, Autosave should only be a backup, not a primary source of saving.

Autosave is completely unreliable. There have been a few threads about it. Sometimes it just gives up and goes home early, hoping you don't notice. I sometimes lose stuff too and yeah it is frustrating. It pays to live by the old adage, "Save Often Stupid". I'm not calling anyone Stupid, that's just the saying, ok maybe I call myself stupid when I forget to save myself. It's so easy to get wrapped up in a build that's going well and lose track of time.

I tried saving my project last night under the same name, but i kept getting the message "Unable to save".
Then I resaved it under a different name, and that worked.

Not sure if this is related, but it might seem that when a save is corrupt it doesn't overwrite it, and maybe that's why auto-save can not work.

Just to be sure, I save after every "major" build I made, just to make sure something I build in the previous 15-30 minutes isn't all for nothing, I hate it to start over.

I agree buit that backup is now the one what didnt work.....

Yeah I understand your point but how many times in a hour you must save? I remember not saving for like 3 hours (the time when they introdused screen) and suddenly my PC was frozen. After starting the game again even auto save was not ok and I had to start all over again.

I save after doing something I don't wanna lose. Finish a ride setup -- save. Finish a queue setup -- save. Finish building an exit building -- save. I number 'em so I don't overwrite, my last one was "Copperpot's Folly 005e".

It may be overkill, but I save about every 10 mins or so just to not loose what I just completed. In the long run I feel its safer than dealing with lost work. I also have backup save of every park. I typically save to both the main and the backup every hours worth of work and when closing the game for the session. This way if one ever get corrupted, I should be able to use the other to create two new versions from.
