Horizons Lost rewards

One time in the past, I lost my ship. I had rewards owing. The rewards were lost as well as cargo. Didn't worry much![downcast]

Tonight I lost my ship and had three rewards to collect. ( 3 NPC's attacked me and were dispensed with)
Okay, cargo and rares were gone, but rewards are not a physical attachment to my ship.

So, has it always been a thing where, if you blow up, any rewards owed to you are also lost? (about 100,000+)

If by rewards you mean bounty vouchers then aye, your entire "transactions" tab is effectively reset.

Gotta add more to this problem.
Bounties lost? I'm okay with that, but the job?
I was about to deliver a mission to a starport. I was attacked. I shot the pirate but also hit the port. Ship lost. I am okay with that.

Spawned at the pick-up starport. headed back to the drop off starport. 5 mission target attacked. I dispensed with them.

Then about to enter drop off station and was attacked again. The target was red, I turned and fired. He was a System Authority Vessel. A cobra or something else small. Killed me in 2 seconds. I have heavy shields engineered to 5.

I had a dormant bounty on me for 750, now it is 1200.
Can you explain what I may have done wrong please?
Is a dormant bounty a target on my back?

Here's how the system works, or at least it is my understanding of it:

1. You commit a crime. You get an active fine for it. You can pay the fine at any time. If your ship gets destroyed before you pay the fine, it becomes dormant.
2. If your ship is not destroyed and you don't pay the fine on time, it becomes an active bounty. Active bounties cannot be paid and they are on a timer.
3. When the bounty timer runs out, the bounty becomes dormant. Whenever a security ship for that jurisdiction scans you, the dormant bounty becomes "live" again and your status changes to Wanted. You can pay dormant fines/bounties on any station that has the issuing faction present.

I am 99% sure that's how the law system works, but please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Dormant bounties are a little bit senseless. If scanned by authorities they will fire on you again.

It's a ridiculous mechanic. Several newer players have complained about being "stuck" in a port that they were continually blasted trying to get out of. But lots of things don't make sense here...

If you need to avoid police attention, just don't hang around for interdictions and when entering a station line up reasonably well with the entrance from about 10km away and just head for it in a straight line. Best way to avoid in general but at speed you should be nigh on unscannable, as with boosts most ships will make it into the depths of the station well before the scan can conclude.

The dormant bounty on me is 6 + days and I can't pay it. I think that the timer has to run out.
Why I mentioned the target on my back is because I was shot up by the authority.
What you say about being scanned and then shot at by the authority must be correct. (Probably only in that system)

Another thing, I not only lost bounty claims, but I found out I lost the explorer claims as well. (I remember that loss is correct)

All in all, I lost my Python twice, the bounty claims for both lots of missions ( first cargo was lost, then second try for delivery plus about 5 more bounty claims along with cargo the second time) A whole lot of millions. I only had 333 mil. Down to 317 now.

Only in that Jurisdiction, so whenever you're in space controlled by the issuing faction (because the authority ships will then belong to that faction).

Each time you get scanned, the timer is reset. Look in your transactions panel. If it's there, you must avoid police scans, which is easy. Switch off "report crimes against me" and fly into the stations fast straight down the axis line. Boost out of the stations and keep boosting until you're clear. Avoid any RES except haz RES, and avoid landing at planetary stations.

Dormant bounties cause more confusion and death in the game than anything else. They should be taken out. Bounties should stay active to avoid any confusion. There's very little advantage in having a dormant one.

yes. I pay my dormants ones off soon as I can.
I got scanned by a new player when I was leaving an engineer and threatened me then started blasting my anaconda.
said I shouldn't be in that system. I had a real small fine for something so he saw that I was wanted. I found it funny. I let it go.
I use a sidewinder to get rid of them and make them dormant as I dont like seeing them on my left panel

Dibble, I don't see any way to pay off a dormant fine. Both fines were given me before destruction.
The first one was "You are fined 750 cr. Die Idiot"
The second one was maybe I was scanned by security and he attacked, I shot back then stopped when I saw he was security, then it was like "You are fined and updated to 1200cr. Die idiot"
My ship was destroyed after the fines were issued, so being destroyed didn't get rid of a dormant fine.
When I check the Contacts Tab there is no mention of any fines. And I am not wanted. The only indication is on the Transaction tab that I have a 1200cr fine bounty and 6 days till it runs out.

Is this different for other commanders?

If you have a dormant FINE, don't worry about it. There are only two occasions where this comes to play:

1) If you die and happen to respawn on the station of a faction that gave you that fine, the fine value will be added to your rebuy.
2) If you commit a new crime in the jurisdiction of the faction that gave you the fine, its value will be added to your bounty.

If you have a dormant BOUNTY, the thing is a little more annoying.

1) If you die, nothing happens. It's still there.
2) If you are scanned by the security forces, the bounty is reactivated (i.e you are wanted, again)
3) If you commit a new crime, the value of the dormant bounty is added to your newly gained bounty.

There is one way to get rid of both, using the fact that they are both added to your new bounty:

(Step zero: Buy a Sidewinder)
Step one: Commit a crime in the jurisdiction of the faction that issued the fine/bounty, originally (In case of the dormant bounty you don't have to commit a new crime, just get scanned)
Step two: Get killed by another commander (Being killed by NPC only makes the bounty go dormant again)
Step three: let the commander claim the bounty voucher
Step four: Profit (well, not really, it has cost you a Sidewinder but still, especially if the fine/bounty is big and risky, it's worth it.

Whole this action has to take place in the system where you are wanted, otherwise the commander who is "helping" you has to use the KWS (i.e they have to see your bounty and get the voucher for it)

Thanks Chris.
Thanks GJ51. I have bookmarked that page.

Now, I am in Nguna, parked in Biggle Hub. If any Commander is close and wants to help, contact me, probably by PM and we can arrange an execution. :D

Edit: Another furfy from FD. But it is a good one for me. As mentioned above, my bounty timer was over 6 days this morning, but this afternoon? Well, whadaya know. It is 21 hours! I wont need help now.
