Lost thrusters in fight while shields where up

Never ever knew this could happen. I fought an Elite Conda in my Asp. My shields where still up when I suddenly could not move. First I thought I unplugged my mouse, but when i saw ice on my canopy I realised I have no thrusters on. My shields where failing as I looked at my modules and saw that my thrusters had been destroyed! Unavoidable Death followed short after.

I use shield cells to keep my shields up in a long fight and I allays have some heat-sinks with me. Since 1.1 the heat-sinks come in handy. I used 2 Heat Sinks in this fight and am not aware of excessive overheating my systems. Before the fight I have been to a station to repair and reload. So I know I had 100% on everything.

Anyone ever lost a module with weakening but still working shields?

Pre-patch, Yes. I lost an Asp the same way while fighting an Anaconda because my thrusters magically vanished while my shields were up. The experience bankrupted the character, so I've been working my way back up the hard way since I find trading abysmally boring.

So at least I am not alone. Sorry for your loss.

Meh it happens. I lost that one within 30 minutes of losing another to an Assassination mission Anaconda. I flew out to bounty hunt to recoup my losses and landed in an Anaconda RES without insurance money. I took the loss as an opportunity to relearn how to fly.

Got really good at killing Anacondas with an Eagle.

*note that I'm one of those people that never equips chaff or heat sinks.* Hardcore mode engaged.

Auto Repair modules should now be able to repair thrusters, even from 0%

Cool but I had none with and an Anaconda that took care of me in a few seconds.
How long dose it take to repair thrusters?
The moment I stood still my shield-cells where not able to hold my shields up for long (thanks to 1.1 (not complaining)).

@ Asmodivs:
no because my shields where up and my thrusters down not vice versa

It seems the anacondas always go for juicy subsystems like engines or shields and if they catch you with a single good volley they can often destroy a module before you even knew what hit you. Haven't had it happen with shields that are decidedly up though. Maybe there's a little bit of bleedthrough and it was enough to destroy your thrusters over the course of the fight.

When thrusters are knocked out, they should still have the slightest function. Even if it moved your ship in the direction you wanred, but very, very, very slowly. Would make combat impossible, but you could probably just about limp home... although it'd take ages.

@ Chummy62:
I like my ship 100% functional in fact I am a little obsessive about that. I even would repaint my ship if it was not included in repair-all. Anyway I always check the repair menu.

@KonigWolf:
After the Conda was finished with me I did not need a Tow-Truck anymore.
A vacuum cleaner would have done. :)

That has happed to me also. Back when I still had my type 7 I was indirected and no matter how much I keeped in the target the red bar just keep climbing. 1st and only time a indirection worked on me in my type 7. So I just put 4 pips to eng and ran for it. Just before the fsd was fully charged I got hit by something big and lost all trusters but my shield where still up. Didn't take long after that for the NPC asp to catch up with me turn me into space dust had a full load of palladium too was not a fun day.

I've also had this about 3 weeks ago, shields were ~1 ring of blue left and hull at 100%, but suddenly thrusters were destroyed. Had to self-destruct.

Happend to me once.
But I think it was caused by myself or a bug somehow because: jumping and boost happened in the same time moment. Resulted in failed jump (still in jump mode but no jump) and engine gone. Shilds were up but I had a small NPC fireing on me in the back at that moment too.. so I don't know what killed my engine at the end. Also don't know what state there were in before.

Could it be a lag issue? Something similar happened to me last week, I was fighting a player python in my clipper, and despite never once losing my shields(thanks to my shield cells) I still took 30% damage to my hull.

So it seems it happens to the best of us ;-).

I come to believe that it is not an intended game-mechanic. So maybe I will raise a ticket later today.

@BishopC:
Thanks!
I made it a habit of it to have at least double of the insurance-money in my pocket. 2.2 million was a loss but I am happy to continue with a very trusty ship and a second chance to re-buy it if something bad happens. I did not play the same day though
