Love for Elite

I never played the original, i dabbled a few years ago to check, but unfortunately, it's like watching a really old movie for the first time. Lol

I used to play FE2 alot though. I was terrible at it. I never lasted long, either running out of fuel, being blown up, or just getting lost or bored for lack of drive. Lol
I was pretty young at the time though, and was more used to consoles (Sega Mega Drive!) back then.

I was an excellent pilot though, my friend who introduced me to FE2 however, was not.
And i made him so mad when i docked and landed without any assistance, the first time, when he could not, after countless hours in the game. :D

We don't speak anymore.
I always wonder if he's out their, playing ED somewhere. Lol

Neil, from Norfolk? Are you there? :p

Yep- an Elite lover since the Speccy version. I remember playing it for all of a Sunday and all the albums I'd listen to while doing that! (I must sort a playlist out).

I remember all the delays and delays and then almost sudden appearance of Frontier: Elite 2 on the Atari ST. Was working in the games dept of HMV at the time (an old, long, sordid story!!). It was flawed (particularly in the combat model- I got around this by getting a bigger ship with stacks of additional shield generators- I could then ram opponents with absolute impunity).

I was highly skeptical with the kickstarter when it was first announced (mostly due to the protracted dev time for Elite 2) but time has told it's own story. FINALLY I was in a position to build a PC to handle modern games as the new year arrived.

Loving ED so far- despite getting my Python all shot up last night! :p There's so much to discover in the game and I'm looking forward to seeing it evolve over coming updates.

Nice nod re Starglider 2. Wonderful game!!

I'm hoping that once we get space legs, there'll be a starting point that's a bit like Mercenary (remember that game?!)- you have to get a ship and travel about a bit to upgrade to get off the first planet. Imagine that!! :D

Elite is my go to game and has been for a year and a half. Everything you described is exactly how I would put it ( I have a similar thread called "why i think elite is great"). I just potter around doing odds and sods. To be honest it's more of an obsession is how my family would put it

Good to see some Xbox players commenting, compared to pc, Xbox on open feels abit dead, I thought I was alone ;p

All true, OP. I love this game, and when I compare it to my old imaginings of what future games might be it far exceeds them.

Could not have put it better myself, I agree with every single damn word you've written there. Honestly, if I could go back in time and show this game to my '84 self he just would not have believed that such a thing would EVER be possible.

Incidentally, just yesterday I discovered a new video maker who's stuff you might enjoy. Like Isionona he's a skilled pilot who uses text to tell a story. It's a different style, faster paced, more humour and his video editing Kung Fu is very powerful indeed!

P.S. did you see that Isinona resurfaced recently?

P.P.S. feel free to send me an in-game friend request, sounds like out playstyles are similar and I'm always looking for new things to do!

P.P.P.S. click my sig for more stuff that I like

I've seen Tikas's videos - very slick!
Yes and I was very pleased to see Isinona dealing with multicrew miscommunications lol!
One time when his usual silent text only approach may have beniffited with some voice coms - great fun none the less, especially the on board commanders reaction to Isinona boosting in the the station FA-OFF as usual :).

Sure would be great to wing up or multicrew - one thing I've really enjoyed with MC is the social aspect.
I may be blind but I didn't see your commander name?
Mine is humbo of course so feel free to send a friend request.
