Love Interdictions.... But...

I love Interdictions, really I do...

I`m sat there, speeding to Truman Station, chomping on an Easter egg with my cat staring hungrily at it, when there`s that weird noise.... Love that initial weird noise, by the way.

"Uh oh!" I look up and zang! The blue circle is in, everything goes haywire, I lose traction as someone tries to jerk me out of SuperCruise.

I grab the stick with my chocolately and sticky fingers, kick my cat out the way, throw my feet on the pedals and play the `Stay on target` game...

....

Finally I`m out and away.

I dunno, I just love the way this works.... My only gripe is that it`s too easy. I haven`t failed an Interdiction in weeks- And I`m a noob, in a basic cargo ship!
If only the Devs would make Interdiction Escapes just a bit harder so i really feel like I have a battle on my hands. It`s really too easy.

Also it kinda kills the seriousness of contacts who say, "I have you now!" When I pretty much know I`ll win every time.

Great mechanic anyway- just needs to be a bit harder. Let me lose a couple.

Player interdictions are nearly impossible to escape. I haven't escaped one :) But, yeah, the AI are easy. I actually power down and pwn them nowadays :D

To be fair, not so long ago they were not easy. They started easy in V1.0, then got way harder sometime last year, then they backed them off. They're harder than V1.0, but as you've all said, if you have any practice with them at all the AI isn't a challenge to avoid.

Yes not so long back they were so hard that you still lost even if you lept the heading directly in the circle. It was easier to just submit and then jump out.

I agree though that now its very easy.

Well I was just in before the Patch was changed, so I had a couple of weeks with it. It seemed about right then, even as a noob I was winning more Interdictions than I lost. But I did lose a couple, it was a fight. Seemed ok...

Then the Patch came out and puff...

My cat could win interdictions now and she doesn`t even know what an intediction is.

It was harder before the last patch. Last patch basically removed any challenge at all. A couple of patches back it was the exact opposite. It seems like an RNG as to whether you won or not so no one bothered fighting it.

In some patches they have been instafail, others totally rnd regardless of skill, now it's just easy. I just find it easier to submit and kill NPCs these days. Only real challange with interdictions is vs a player and even then it's less about the interdictions but using submision, low wake the then droping back into normal flight to try and loose the ganker. Just had a great cat n mouse game at the CG in my unengineered trade cutter against a somebody in a meta bulid FAS.

If you want to fail, then just submit. I personally think of them as an annoyance and a time waster (though I understand their purpose). Before when they were harder, I'd stop trying to fight it and submit right away, because with my ships, I'd be thrusting out so fast, they never would catch me. The downside is I'd have to wait to submit, then spend a few seconds in the out of Super Cruise phase, then thrust and thrust until my FSD was back up and then wait to get back into Super Cruise. It just took too long to always have the same effect (me going on my way like I'd never been interdicted, but losing that time spent always escaping).

Now it's quicker to ignore those interdiction. I pay for the better thrusters, I invest time in gathering the mats and engineering my thrusters to G5 for my ships, so I deserve to have a quicker escape and spend just seconds getting out of the interdiction without actually having to submit.

In a way it's like paying extra money for skipping the lines at Disney Land. You don't have to do it, but if you have the money, it's a hell of a lot less annoying...

It`s not in my nature to just submit. I need to fight and be challenged otherwise what`s the point?

That`s like playing chess against someone who`s rubbish so I should just lose on purpose? No, I want my opponent to get better.

you could always play the game in a mk III if you're looking for a challenge

I don't know why interdiction is mini game that randomly pick directions and crash you into sun or planet, it shouldn't be. When player start interdiction, the target should still be allowed to fly freely (total control over ship). So he need to try shake the interdictor off his tale. ANd same time the interdictor try catch the target and stay on his tale, if he get in x distance from target he win. Make interdiction more interactive and skill based instead of minigame with random circle that we need to follow.

Look if it were harder lots of casual players would give up on the game. It has to be easy. the end.

I respectfully disagree.
I'm a casual player and i want it as difficult as possible.
Challenges make the game fun.
Easy is boring and has zero longevity IMO.

You are doing it wrong. It is very possible to avoid, fight and escape from an interdiction.
situational awareness - dont let anyone on your six. turn and fly at possible threats.
heat sinks work in SC
submit and spool up while the 'dictor is still spinning, then high wake out of Dodge
