Love Interdictions.... But...

It`s not in my nature to just submit. I need to fight and be challenged otherwise what`s the point?

That`s like playing chess against someone who`s rubbish so I should just lose on purpose? No, I want my opponent to get better.

Well don't kick the cat off you then. Let your cat help you with the controls. that might be a good challenge. I know I've had numerous games where the cats always want to try and help me out batting at the monitor or sleeping on my mouse while I'm using it, etc...

The interdiction mechanic seems to be one that is very difficult for FD to find the sweet spot on. As others have mentioned, it was very easy against NPC's until the 1.4 patch, after which it became almost impossible for many, and gradually, over time since then, FD have toned down the difficulty. Presumably they have metrics that showed them that players were simply ignoring or avoiding it, so they are trying to make it more user friendly.

It's also worth noting that in reality, interdictions are just a way to engage in or avoid combat, either by being attacked / interdicted, or by attacking / interdicting. By making the process easier, they enable more players to use interdictions as a way to either engage in that combat by being able to pull NPCs out of SC, or to avoid combat by fighting an interdiction, rather than just submitting and then boosting / waking away, which for quite some time has been the typical way of dealing with them.

I love Interdictions, really I do...

I`m sat there, speeding to Truman Station, chomping on an Easter egg with my cat staring hungrily at it, when there`s that weird noise.... Love that initial weird noise, by the way.

"Uh oh!" I look up and zang! The blue circle is in, everything goes haywire, I lose traction as someone tries to jerk me out of SuperCruise.

I grab the stick with my chocolately and sticky fingers, kick my cat out the way, throw my feet on the pedals and play the `Stay on target` game...

....

Finally I`m out and away.

I dunno, I just love the way this works.... My only gripe is that it`s too easy. I haven`t failed an Interdiction in weeks- And I`m a noob, in a basic cargo ship!
If only the Devs would make Interdiction Escapes just a bit harder so i really feel like I have a battle on my hands. It`s really too easy.

Also it kinda kills the seriousness of contacts who say, "I have you now!" When I pretty much know I`ll win every time.

Great mechanic anyway- just needs to be a bit harder. Let me lose a couple.
Totally agree Cmdr

I find that NPC interdiction evasion is easier it seems to me because the process feels more stable, rather than a difficulty setting slider per se. I don't recall the last time I got the perpendicular slides or the 180-target flip kinds of garbage from earlier iterations. It's all about actually playing the target tunnel game now, which really isn't too tough when it's not glitchy.

steering into the gravity well of a planet is actually a legit tactic to evade an interdiction completely. dodged several pvp encounters that way

Prepatch, I actually escaped by desperately diving into the sun! The enemy broke off and then I had the tough task of getting out before I burned up!

Now that`s the kind of thing I`m talking about. Challenge makes you think, and thinking helps you escape!

I made the same post 4 days ago. Interdictions are a waste of time now, you can escape them just by keeping the end circle on the blue, not even the middle 1.

The le of the thread got me all worked up.....
But it's just about normal interdictions which he likes
I thought it was something else.

Cheers Cmdr's
