Love my new FAS - help with name?

So I finally bought a Fed ship after flying Imperial and other since GPP.Holy shnikeys. I'm blown away by my new FAS. Maneuverability is great. Firepower is Vulture and a half... and did I mention it's built like a brick s**thouse? This thing is solid. My only gripe is hardpoint placement. It can be a little tricky keeping all points on target. She really reminds me of a bulldog, or a boulder rolling downhill. Let those ideas be your inspiration!

Oh, that's what you were up to in LHS 20! I saw you were nearby on the Galaxy Map. Went to the Dark Side, eh? Nothing shoots things dead quite like the Fed Ships.

It's incredible. I've used all sort of weapons on this, you're not limited to anything. Currently using 4 pulse: The E3 pulse will recharge even while the F2 pulse are constantly firing, the distributor is that good

I find that the way that works for me is to get a feel for the ship, and what she can do for you. Of the 7 ships I have, I have named 5 (OK, the 2 Sidewinders have a collective name; The Heavyweight Fleas, as I mainly use them for taxis (either to get to a larger ship, or to collect bounties from other major Factions, as they do not appear scary (they are both Class A, and have gimballed beam lasers though)), my Asp Explorer is called The Curious Cricket, as I do use her for exploring, and she has a reasonable jump range, the free Viper MkIV has the Black Friday paint scheme, and is called The Night Viper (not very imaginative, I know), while my Anaconda has earned the name The Helping Hand, as she helped me build up the finances to have a small fleet, and she also helps new Players to get a genuine better start in the game.

I like to look to Greek and Egyptian mythology for the names of my ships. Not that I know a whole lot about either subject, I like the names and who the gods were.

My Vulture - The Montu (Egyptian Falcon-God of War, despite a vulture not technically being a falcon, close enough for my combat-only ship)

My Asp Explorer - The Astraeus (Greek Titan of Dusk, Stars and Planets, very fitting for an exploration vessel)


But I'm sure some mythology major will correct me, like I said I'm no expert on the subjects. But, nonetheless, might be a route to look into.

Wow - naming ships is such a personal thing and you want us to help!!! If it's an FAS and I'm in my Cobra IV its name is 'Expletive Deleted' ! ;-) I pick most of my ship names from sources that have some personal meaning to me so maybe you could do the same. Examples for me... Humourist was a race horse and an A3 Steam Locomotive; Nyati is Shona for Buffalo; Redgauntlet was a book by Sir Walter Scott. You must have some influences of your own

OP, you can ask someone else to choose what colour your boat is.

You can ask someone else to outfit your ship for you.

You can ask someone to operate your entire craft for you while you just sleep in the bunk.

But, OP, you never, ever, ask someone to name your vessel for you. That decision is ALWAYS for the boat's owner to make. In this case you.

I'm superstitious like that.

Yup, getting my discount on. I wouldn't say I went to the dark side... Eventually if I sell it I'll be sure it gets sold to an Imperial dealer.

Well I'm certainly going to have the final say, and odds are I wouldn't ever go with exactly someone else suggested, but I've named many ships and I'm in a bit of a rut. Fresh eyes and all...
