Arthur C. Clarke, Roger Zelazny, Phillip K. , Isaac Asimov, Larry Niven, Robert A. Heinlein, Stanislaw Lem, Frank Herbert, William Gibson, Tad Williams, Michael Bishop... the list goes on.

Movies, 2001 for sure, but Alien is my all time favorite sci-fi movie. Interstellar was great, too. I'm also a Star Trek guy and like many of the movies too.

As for games, Elite, Empyrion, Rogue System, Mass Effect, Deus Ex come to mind. I also enjoyed EVE for a few years, but not that much of a pvp guy overall. Star Trek Online was fun too.
