i just want to tell you that you folks here are still the real elite community.
god how i love all of you.

sense for humor,
kindness,
kiddingness,

whatever-ess,

no damned criticism,

kind folks where you point on ever.

Y'know, we should start another crazy Elite related thread, just for laughs and old times sake :D
Its been a bit depressing recently hitting the "New Posts" tab and not seeing anything Elite related :(

Yes, there was a really good community built up here. I miss the banter almost more than I miss Elite4!
Used to visit here daily for a few years, but I think many of us have drifted away (some honourable exceptions Geraldine) as it has become clear with the cancellation of the Outsider that Elite 4 is just never going to happen. The world has just moved on from intelligent pc gaming and space as a theme. The vast nature of space that made the Elite games so attractive in the early days of computers now count against it when we expect worlds as lifelike as Skyrim. I think we have to accept that Elite will stay in the memory, and that Frontier is doomed by economics to make fluffy, juvenile console games.
As I usually end these posts, please prove me wrong Frontier, I know you want to do the good stuff too

With planetary- and station landing this can be solvable. Imagine the DLC possibilities..

Yea, I guess we (us Elite fans that is) have all turned into lurkers now. Most of the time that I post on here now is to give updates on Pioneer's progress. As good as that is, I still miss all the mega rants that used to go on and on about Elite :D
Newtonian Vs Non Newtonian, MMO Vs Singleplayer Sandbox or Jump Gates Vs Hyperdrives and many others :cool:
I was just thinking back there about some of the epic posts made on here :rolleyes:

Who can forget when Steve Tyler posted that beautiful Viper model for FFE3D, I couldn't believe that I could actually fly that in an Elite game! :eek:

Or how about TJ for starting Elite 4 Caption Thread and Spacegamer & Steve O B Have for creating their hilarious Elite IV sketches :D

And Potsmoke66, for his never ending talent for creating cool ship models

I could go on and on as there were many, many more that added to the life of this forum :eek:

I (of course) will still keep the faith, as long as Frontier Developments exists, then the possibility of a new Elite game can also exist, but hand on heart, I don't blame any of you for giving up. This "wait" went from being frustrating to maddening then confusing all the way down to being a joke, but hey! At least we got a few laughs! :D

Oh well, better get back to lurking again :(

The Caption thread was fun ;)

I still lurk about but....Nothing new to say at the moment. real shame the community's gone quiet, but theirs only so many times we can re-hash the same subjects.

Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to be jumping up and down waiting for the release of E4, nut as I'm 40 I'd probably sprain something.

If I ever do meet DB I'd get him p****d as a f**t and make him sign a contract to produce E4 within a fortnight ;)

Hi guys, nice to hear from you. Yes, Steve Have's caption thread was a highpoint in a forum that has always been informed, good humoured and endlessly patient (we have had to be!)

So I've gone from nostalgia about Elite to nostalgia about the Elite forum...progress?
