Hi,

Just finished playing a 4 hr stint and wanted to come on here as I've avoiding this forum for a while as it appeared to be descending into a 606 football forum at times ! and say what a great game this is / will be.

I'm not a great Elite player by any stretch of the imagination (yet !) but I absolutely loved playing it yesterday, beautiful to watch, got my first 'live' kill after being attacked in the eagle, trading is fun, and it was like being back in 1984 all over again. My brother was around and he had not heard anything about E:D until recently and from watching it yesterday E:D now have another player. For me, I could not care about the offline mode and everything that goes with it and for my money is the best game I have played in a long while.

I still struggle with a number of things in the game, combat ;-) and working out how the Galaxy map works and how to use it usefully as a navigation tool, but for now have reverted to paper and pen ...... and loving it.

yeah that is one of my Favorite things! Also, the new coming out of supercruise at stations scares me every time. It looks like I am going to hit the station. I love it.

Yeah - I'm having a great trip - started 250 LY away from Achenar deep in fed space, slowly making my way towards imperial space, improvising and upgrading my Eagle on the fly. Works like a charm, I'm having a lot of fun on my adventure and things will only get better from here.

Yea, I can see myself losing a lot of hours in the next few months. And for the people constantly slagging the game, my lad has recently purchased Assassins Creed(Unity) now if you want to see a crap game release ...... that has got to be up there. couple of patches in, still no better and he's stopped playing ........

Me, I drown his complaints out with my headphones and head on out the hanger :)

PS - is there a useful guide anywhere on how to make the most out of the Galaxy map ?

Me ?? I've not upgraded anything on it yet, will do soon. It took me a while to realise where / how to find the eagle ;-)

Still using the stock FSD, but I'm just taking a break because I've found a station that sells an A2 and the powerplant to go with it - will stick around the system and make some cash to kit it out during my next stint.

Yeah, Jump range is pretty small on the Eagle I think. I am using a sidewinder for now. I am not sure which I like better between the Eagle and Sidewinder. Both are pretty solid for maneuvering and staying on the enemy's tail.

I'll be honest here i knew i would not get a refund on the main game but i was going to get a refund on the expansion.
when the gamma got released it did what i expected,disconnects,laggy,crashing,cannot login ect ect.

BUT today has been a different ball game,now everything has settled down no lag no disconnects and i'm really enjoying the game.
So i will retract the expansion refund.
I'm still a little gutted no offline,but if they can maintain the way it's running now i'll get over it.

I am in complete agreement with the OP. This game is a wonder. I've just scratched the surface of it so far, and I already know that I am hooked for the long, transgalactic haul.

Likewise - I don't know how much code Frontier had already written when they first put ED up on Kickstarter, but I'm in awe of what they've achieved in the last 18 months to 2 years. Admittedly I only got the beta a couple of weeks ago, but I've been amazed at how stable this is ... I know it's not yet stable for everybody, but I can only speak as I find.

Really looking forward to two weeks off at Xmas, by which time I should have got my grubby mitts on an X52, so I can really start to play properly!

Me too, loving it so so much. Highly recommend this to all. Even the girlfriend is wanting to buy it now after having a tour of Sol and the bulletin boards. Wants a freighter to fly. ;)
