loving this game so far

if i think about the style of this game it reminds me of how the usuale medieval games are but without the xp part but for some reason i carnt get enough of this game.

iv been playing for about a month or so now and in first week it was a grind for my real ship viper but after getting it and going in bounty hunting i got even more hyper than the first couple of days, then i received my vulture and i was so excited just by making by thrusters go vooooomsh even now it makes me giddy and just as i thought i was getting bored of the bounty hunting i decide to head to RES sites and omg again i feel so happy and excited just the fact its so much fun in a asteroid field when a group of npc gang up on you (had 1 anaconda a python and 2 eagle after me) and it was so fun to fly in-between asteroids for cover to pop out and kill 1 of them to then burn back to a roid again for cover. each moment of the game keeps me ingrosed wanting more to point where after having spent a couple of hours gaming my balance seems to think im in cockpit still as i feel like im spinning a little in combat XD

i so carnt wait to discover more and more of this game never been so excited constantly with a game

This is the real beauty of this game, there is a game within to suit your moods almost always. I've tried most aspects of ED now, and am currently out exploring.. its peaceful.. not seen a ship for thousands of light years now, and yet i'm getting a lot of enjoyment just scanning the various planets, checking it against known record holders etc, and here and there taking pictures / movies for the folks back home.

I did quite a lot of bounty hunting in the RES, and the odd bit in between, and i'm looking forward to seeing what the changes to mining brings forth too.. really hoping that mining becomes what it should be compared to other in game professions.

Glad you are having so much fun, just dare to explore sometime when you need a break from combat, and see if that also grabs you as it has done for me :)

I love things that look beautiful to the eyes and the planets iv seen so far look amazing id love to go exploring one day and find my own system with very beautiful plants

how deep does exploring go though i know you get your name on a system you have discovered if no one else has but what else does it bring to game? factions expanding maybe?

The other side of this game that is great is that it has been made by one of the designers of the original Elite (along with of course the development team at Frontier Developments). Back in the first Elite, all the ships, planets, asteroids, you name it were all just wireframe, but back then getting a game like Elite to run inside 32kb of memory (or less ?) was nothing short of breathtaking, especially when you considered the content that was in it. The game style was a games industry no-no that became an instant hit with many people.

The game you see today, breaks ground on many different levels, and where some folk are comparing ED to other spacefaring games, I think it is fair to say a lot of the games it gets compared with, owe their background to the original Elite as it in many ways spawned the entire genre.

What i do notice a lot when exploring is that you find planets that are terraforming candidates, or are earth like.. so i think this could well be placeholders for future expansions to the game where new colonies and stations could be founded. I know that FD are looking towards planetary landings, and if the planetary scenary and depth is as good as space as we currently have it then we are in for some treats. (i can't wait ;) )

iv played eve online for maybe 10? years now and i love the game but i must say in aspects it doesnt compare to ED sure its a awesome game but comparing eve to ed isnt a good idea as both shine with there own things if im looking for a game to be like eve id just play eve i like looking for games that stand alone hence why i dont play alot of fantasy games as most of them are the same and the skills dont live up to what i expect especially when i see what games like ED can do

i never played the original sadly but i could imagine most producers or dev's might be abit scared going with something new like ED but hey you never get anywhere unless you dive in

the only thing that kinda bugs me is that i have a load of bounty with other factions but i dont wanna fly miles for just abit of cred's but that in its self then makes me see big picture, most devs might think "people will get bored flying for miles to just colect there reward so why not let them insta jump to them" but ED said no we keep it how its is people will travel this in turn will have people discover new systems realize there is more out there than what is in 1 system and its so great that devs can still think outside box

I've found that it is more interesting to fly to those other systems to collect bounties when I plan a trade run to them and collect the bounty while I'm there. That way, I make the best use of my time. I see lots more systems that way. Doing this, I've discovered combat zones, interesting ringed planets with RES, NAV points. I found my current home while cashing in a bounty at an out-of-the-way system.

I really wish more people were like you, not because you like the game but more that you've played EvE (like me) and understand that both games are great as they are, and don't need to be the same.

To your point though about bounties though - I'm guessing you're using a kill warrant scanner? If so, I found it useful to hoard a load of them before cashing them in to save time, just make sure you don't get killed!

At some point the explorer's bug will bite you and you will be travelling tens on thousand LY.You heard it here first. :D

Lol, correct, just....one....more....system....ooooh look at that, have to investigate close up......Those that say you can get to SaggyA in 12 hours are correct that it can be done in 12 hours, but......everybody gest distracted in a beautiful system, must scan every planet.....

This ^^. So very much this. The bug has bitten be so deeply that it's going to take something very very special to make me want to stay in populated space for any length of time. Each time I have returned home, I've managed to stay for an hour or so before heading back out again.

This sums it up for me too.. I've done a bit of exploring, some trading, and a bit of combat, This is the game that me and my friends where playing in our heads back in the BBC micro/C64, then amiga days :) Just looks stunning now..

Even tried smuggling a couple of times for the"Please don't hit the letterbox/press boost inside the station!" moments.. Brilliant fun :)

Tell me about it, it bit me last night. I made enough credits in the current imperial CG to really upgrade
my asp. Sat there looking at the shipyard screen and suddenly thought "Well let's see if I can't make her what she's meant to be instead of a combat ship"
And suddenly I found myself a couple of hundred ly outside inhabited space :)
