Low proceeds when selling a engineered ship.

isnt it weird that a really good engineered ship still sells for less than the stock parts cost? I mean if i buy a car and mod it it i could sellt it for more money than i bought it stock right?!

would be cool if we could make some money this way.

you lose 10% of the total ship value,
but if you sell all your modules first before selling the hulk, you get module price in full.
you still lose 10% of the bare hulk value tho.

since there are no issues with the modifications and they just work all the time i dont see any problem with some kind of warranty. [big grin]

No. You couldn't. Unless you found a complete idiot to buy it, no modified car will sell for near the expected resale value. Especially if it was a modified engine or gearbox etc. Anyone with a bit of mechanical nounce would be very sceptical since while modifying may initially improve performance, it also means that long term reliability has likely gone out the window.

The engineer mods are third party after market adjustments. I like to think of it as being similar to having your cylinders bored, etc. in a car.

With regards to your analogy though. No second hand car, regardless of mods, will be worth more than the brand new one sitting on the showroom floor. A car loses an incredible amount of its resale value as soon as you drive it away.

Well, it's not like the ships are modded by Bob the bungling idiot is it? These engineers are the Aaron Kaufmann's of the galaxy!!!

well so companys that pimp cars professionally cant sell their pimped cars for more money? i mean i just buy the stock car (ship) go to a company to pimp it (engineer) and then sell it for a bit higher price then they want from me to pimp it? since we have no legal companys for ships the engineers are the only pimp my ride facilitiys in the game.
