Low Wake Scanners - how long do they last

Hi All,

There are a couple of cmdr's who are holding up at Ho Hsien about 10'ish (GMT) and they interdict you asking for cargo, etc. if not they open fire. Well I've come across them a couple of times previously and escaped out. Well last night with time running out (needing to turn off PC) and this happening twice in 1 minute I waited and started to attacked the cmdr (he was wanted and had attacked first) and got his shields down to 77% when his friend showed up - he wasn't man enough to face me alone. 2 Cobra's against one wasn't going to cut it so got blown up. I should have just concentrated all my firepower on the first guy and at least take one of them with me.

My question is how did the other ship jump into my local space. I guess it is through the the wake scan we left? If so how long does that wake scan last? Was wondering if I kept him talking for a few moments would that have been enough time to prevent his friend showing up?

Interested to know for future reference.

Thanks

In my experience I watched a cobra interdict an smaller ship of an NPC and they both formed low from SC wakes. I sat and watched for a few minutes and when the player killed the NPC's ship, one wake disappeared. After about 30s, the player's wake was replaced with the player jumping back to SC. So it remained a good 3 to 5 mins.

It depends on the instancing I've noticed. If in your situation, all 3 players are in the same instance and 2 drop out. That remaining player would be able to see both as long as he remained in that instance.

For NPCs that leave a wake, a lot of the time they will just despawn after dropping to SC. So their wake will disappear immediately.

My personal experiences have been is that as long as you sit in an instance, that other players wake will remain. If you leave that instance like dock or whatever, that wake will disappear because the instance is despawned.

How about two on two?

I've been picked up by the same clowns repeatedly. In a Type 6 only fit for trading it's never going to be worth the hassle repeatedly running away from a kitted MK3 so I find myself copping out and flipping over to solo until they go offline. I agree it's hurting the game, but as it seems there is little if any consequence for trolling piracy there's little alternative. I've a kitted MK3 too, would be happy to team up and try give them a bit of their own medicine...
