Is this a change in position, or luminosity? What ship in particular, or all ships?

I have heard of a couple of goofy bugs where the SYS / WEP / ENG panels flashed, but nothing beyond that.

What the OP is getting at, is that in 2.2 the side pannels (nav and status) have been raised in the cockpit a bit. For those with headtrackers, it's become pretty much impossible to look around without a pannel activating and getting in the way.
Fortunately there's an option to only activate pannels when you press the appropriate key, but it's not optimal if you have only a limited amount of buttons (say, a cheap hotas).

Cant fathom that just me an 2 other guys in the universe has noticed this and how annoying it can be. The panels on the sides have been raised, so now when you go explore in an srv you cant see     , because those damn ui panels obstruct the view. It es me to the point i want to quit playing. Not a big deal for non trackir users, but with trackir it is really really annoying.

If this is not fixed, I will not buy another season for sure..

Before this "fix" i was always saying to myself that frontier really nailed it with the way they made th ui panels and how nicely it worked with trackir, offcourse they had to fix what wasnt broken.. thank alot frontier..

It is particularly annoying in the SRV and it feels like they have narrowed them in there as well. Not so comfortable using an Oculus rift as well, anyhow, within the ships this did not disturb me yet.

There is another trick: There is a look-around keybind that I've bound to my pinky switch on the hotas. While this switch will lock-on the panels when used with directional buttons (thrusters) it also disables the panels when held without using the direction buttons.

It disturbs me in the ships aswell, now the panels always show up when looking around, before they only showed when i wanted to see them...

Have you got a couple of spare buttons? I play in VR and the panels get in the way whether they are a bit lower or higher imho. You can make it so they don't pop up and get in the way everytime you look at them as someone further up said. I am used to using these buttons as I use them when in 2D but you would soon get used to them. I think buttons 1 and 4 are mapped by default but I might be wrong (mine are on my Throttle).

Toggles work, just fyi, key combinations can be bound to it last I checked.

Some bells should be ringing when we have to "workaround" something that never needed a workaround before...

Also to those saying if i dont have a cheap joystick i can map buttons for the workaround, well not sure if you could call the TH Warthog cheap, im using all it buttons already, i have no buttons left to spare..

Why on earth did they move them? I've put all mine to buttons only. Bit annoying because i liked how they pop up automatically. But at least i can see outside now.
