Lowest jump range ship taken to colonia?

The answer to any of these threads or questions re: long distance, long effort, and/or range is ---> stock sidewinder.

There is always 'some guy', that is crazy enough, self goal oriented enough, masochistic enough, to always, always....always prove that this can be done. And does it.

Sag A in a sidewinder, far side of the galaxy in a sidewinder, I am sure there has to be 1 guy that's done Colonia not only in a sidewinder, but a stock non-modded sidewinder.

I'm sure the only place a stock sidewinder hasn't cross are the actual physical barrier limits where you need X jump distance to cross gaps. Otherwise, any herculean effort as long as it is possible even if it takes 3000% more jumping, someone has done it. ED is just one of those kinds of games. Which to my mind is a good thing.

Hang on there Duke ... I'm flying a Sidewinder out that way right now with one of my alt.accounts. :)

She's a lot faster than the Type 9 I flew out that way in December. Got that red-hot poker handy?

One guy? There's a whole thread dedicated to performing this pilgrimage: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/283178-The-Outlander-Challenge

Well then I tip my hat to you sir.
I just did restarts on two careers about 5 weeks ago and the Sidewinder is a painful experience. Couldn't wait to get out of it. And then 5000(?) jumps to Colonia? Ugh!
Hate that ship. Wish you had the option of a Hauler on restart.

Oh now, see ... I love the Sidewinder. One of my favorite ships.

For me it was a 21.5ly Cutter with the Christmas convoy. It was my first trip to Colonia, and it took a month because I was keeping to the CCC schedule.

Coincidentally, just this afternoon I arrived back in the bubble with the same ship after a three day journey. Although her jump range was up to 28ly thanks to being unladen.

You'd better not look at the Outlander Challenge then. :)
I have a new-found appreciation of the Sidewinder because of my trip to Colonia in an 18ly Sidewinder.

A 15 LY Python loaded for the Repair Jaques Station CG when they were still deciding what they wanted to name the area. Took around maybe a week and a half playing a couple hours a day or so, though I think I did pull an all-nighter toward the end there just to make sure I made it in time for the CG when it became more obvious that it was going to end early.

Meh, and I thought flying my 23.5ly ranged Python to Sagittarius A* was a mild achievement... :(

I almost took my Armed FDL, but I couldn't fit anything I wanted. Lol

Ok. That puts the average economy jump at 4ly per jump.
There's a lot of zig-zagging with the economical route plotting though and the actual average jump length was 5.7 LY. The longest single jump during the trip was 14.7 LY.

Of course, in terms of taking the lowest jump range ship to Colonia, my Conda could have done 33 LY even with all those tanks full. So it doesn't really count!

So, were you trying to avoid fuel scooping, or just getting in a lot of local sightseeing?

Colin Ford from the Lave Radio crew is attempting to make the trip in a stock Sidewinder on his Xbox One account. He's definitely got more patience than I have, thats for damn sure!

I've got a Grade 5 upgraded Conda that is pushing very close to a 65 Ly jump range in its stripped down configuration, and I have still not been able to conjure up the motivation to make that trip!

I am heading their with a friend in a cobra mk3 with an 18 light year jump range. Almost to the first stop and no fuel rats calls yet
