Horizons Ludicrous mision payment!! - 576 credits

Hi Cmdrs
FDEV have really lost the plot with this update!
Take a look at this mission.
Data transport from Gernsbeck Terminal/Groombridge 1628 to Pontes Terminal/Wolf 424
REWARD - 576Credts!!!!!
Can you believe this 576 Credits - This is beyond comprehension.
This 2.2 Update has ruined the Missions and Trading.
Come on Frontier - I want to upgrade to a Python and fit it out to a top spec whuch will cost me about 100million.
How can you justify 576Credits for a mission and then price an A rated Python at 100million?

its a confirmed bug, Michael Brookes has confirmed they are working on it... hopefully it wont even need a patch just some serverside twiddling.

however ultimately at the end of it, it will just mean manure hauling is not the most lucrative career in the universe any more.

PS 576 credits.... pah! i have seen em for less than 100 ;) (and yes it needs to be fixed, until it is i suggest you try something else in game unless they offer mats or commodities you want)

@efelstead: I get your pain, I really do. But a top spec fit Python will cost you about 240 mil.... for a 100 you get a Python with a cup of coffee and new joystick :)
(no pun intended, just a bit of fun)

Hopefully this gets sorted sooner rather than later for those that need the credits. * I should mention that Passenger Missions are not included in whatever bug this is, so those who are trying to raise capital for a new ship or something should seriously consider running some of those until this is fixed.

A typical A to B run with an Allied faction can get you up to and including 3.5 MILLION credits for a single passenger contract. This kind of mission often only requires the smallest first class cabin (3 person) and the travel distances from A to B are usually under 50 Ly. Sightseeing missions pay even more, but require a high jump range ship to make them time efficient.

Frankly... If I was still in need of $$ right now, I wouldn't even be bothering with any other mission types. Not when you can be pulling down 10-20 million credits in under 2 hours of game time.

(* These days, I only take on standard missions for the Engineer materials and data they offer and sometimes mission reward only commodities. Since I don't even look at the $$ they pay, I wasn't even aware of this bug until I read it here and started looking at actual mission payouts)

How long do you need to travel? sounds like a one jump neutral or worse mission, I'm unsure what you expect? you do those for rep, not money.

576 Credits

Sounds like a "Harmless" or entry-level mission type, pretty low payout. I remember back when I did a CMDR reset, I flew a number of small entry-level cargo and data missions that paid under 1k or 2k. Important money when starting out. Upgrading to a C rated FSD costs about $16,000 credits and nearly double Sidewinder's my jump range.

Those missions were a decent kick start, but I soon left them behind. Hunting POI sites for cargo stashes (tea and gold!) was more interesting and paid more (this was v2.0).

But the payouts do still scale with reputation in v2.2. My allied minor factions are still offering me cargo and data missions at $300k and up. The Skimmer missions my allied factions offer have huge payouts (multi-millions each) but I've never tried one.

A large part of what I am seeing in the missions end of 2.2 seems to be a rebalance of focus on passenger missions. Tonight my allied minor faction had stacks of passengers wanting in-bubble tours for $1 million and up. All were "Economy" seat missions, so any ship can complete them. I took two such missions in my Orca, flew about 600LY total for a $5 million payout.

For less hassle, they had one-way bulk passengers paying out $350k to $1 million for a one jump trip in Economy cabins.

The increased Rep doesn't help the rewards much. I was happily taking missions out of my home port but now I'm a bus driver because even with Allied rank with all the factions at this port, the missions rewards have dropped to being pathetic. For someone just starting to play this game and how long it will take them to upgrade to a decent ship, well I suspect they will lose interest in a hurry.

You should - they're actually strangely satisfying! :D

I have wondered about them. My I roleplay my CMDR as a law abiding type, and somehow I always get the impression that I would probably be gaining fines and maybe bounties while completing those missions.

With absolute certainty, yes. It seems you have to play dirty now and again. Just check they want you to go to systems where you don't normally travel.

I rarely bothered with those Skimmer Missions until I watched one of Obsidian Ant's videos where he demonstrated how you don't need to bother trying to kill the Skimmers at the actual base listed on the mission! Any Skimmers found on that same planet will do just as well! All you need to do is find a typical POI return on your scanner, confirm that you have found one of those Red Rectangles that indicate some cargo debris or something with Skimmers guarding it, and simply take THOSE out! :D

Easy to do, and no threat of getting ganked by all the base security forces!

Now I do them all the time, and they have actually become one of my favorite missions to take when I am in the mood for some SRV centric gameplay! [up]

I really thank Obsidian Ant for that video! :)

Yea this ^^

And the best thing about it is that very often they are Wanted, so you wouldn't have to give up that law-obediency-thingy you have going for you
