General / Off-Topic Mad Max: Fury Road

So after hearing so much good about this movie I got around to watching it yesterday.
I did have some hopes but not all to much since the past few years have seen movies becoming worse and worse with every release, depending on shallow beautiful characters and overuse of special effects, horribly silly stunts and 3D.
Not being a huge Mad Max fan but still somewhat fond of the older movies.

But this new one was a complete disaster. How the hell can this attract the attention it did, it must be the name because the movie itself was a shallow pos, a 2 hour car chase with explosions, no character development worth a though and really bad acting from otherwise good actors, more explosions….What the hell?

The only good thing I got from this movie was a few giggles at some of the "over the top" characters and world setting. At least they got that somewhat right.

But the rest of the movie, a complete waste of time. And this from someone who actually have no issue with mindless action flicks from time to time.

Note:
This is my personal opinion and I understand others may feel otherwise but know that while im bashing this horrible movie, it is in no way intended to insult anyone.

To be honest, considering how much good ive heard about it even from sources usually not keen on mainstream blockbusters, yes I did!

Next time don't trust any source and try to make your own opinion before giving your cash to such farce of a movie. By the looks of the trailers I could know that this movie isn't for my superior taste :)

For Tharg's sake .. they made a remake of Mad Max?? (Depicting the dystopian Cursed Earh we know and love from the early 70's??) They remade Robocop?? An incorruptable supercop? Whose script originally came inspired by early drafts, of stories to put the stoney faced Mega City One lawman on celluloid (made classic by Paul Verhoeven's 20 seconds to comply?) .. For goodness' sake, even Stallone's "I am the leeaaww" was a guilty pleasure .. of Diane Lane, ABC Warrior bots and an Ian Dury cameo ... give the people want the want (creep) .. necropolis! ;)

Fury Road is not a remake. Also it's the same director so the vision is intact.

Anyone who knew and loved the mad max films should have known not to except character development and that it was gonna be more comic bookish post apocalyptic silliness.

I thought it was terrific. Is it shallow? Of course. Is it over the top? uh-uh. Is it completely entertaining? yes. What it set out to do it does very well.

Mad Max was your standard shoot em up movie, didn't seem like they were going for character & plot development. Based on that as a constant action movie I would give it a 7/10.

I was very "meh" after MM.

Now, a Dredd sequel would be fantastic, the 2012 film was excellent. Me and no1 son both loved it.

I actually loved MM:FR. I love the second movie, one of my most fav movies ever. I think that Fury Road managed to retain the atmosphere of MM2 and make the series look modern at the same time. Yes, the story is shallow, but that was always the case with Mad Max movies. To me it's all about the images and the atmosphere. The night shots are absolutely brilliant with the blue filter, smoke and mist.

Dunno, I guess I just love the post-apocalypse theme and Mad Max is brilliant at depicting the barren land where fuel is the most valuable commodity.

I'm usually looking for a much more meaningful cinema experience and most of the times I just ignore the big titles. Haneke's "Amour" is my kind of "big" movie. But there are some exceptions and Mad Max is one of them. I enjoyed it immensely!

I watched this movie 2 time in one day. Definitely one of the best movie ive ever seen, the action is non stop an put together very well, the vehicles were off the hook, incredible scenes throughout, never seen an action film with this much action and intensity, should win a few awards,10/10
