Madagasgar Simian Conservatory only 11 species available

I am trying to play the through the tutorial and I am on the Simian Conservatory (in Easy Mode) - One of the Gold scenarios is to get 12 species in the zoo, but the game is only allowing me to get 11 :
  1. Bonnobo
  2. Ring Tailed Lemur
  3. Giant Borrowing Cockroach
  4. Goliath Frog
  5. Bornean Orangutan,
  6. Hippo
  7. Red Ruffed Lemur
  8. Giant Land Snal
  9. Mandril
  10. Gila Monster
  11. Lesser Antillean Iguana
There are no other animals available in the Animal Trading system, and no other species in the Exhibit Trading, and when I look at Vet Training, all other species are locked. What is the 12 species meant to be, and how do I get hold of it ?

I have the same problem on Xbox. I have 11 species (including exhibit species), their needs are fulfilled, I have even researched all there is to research. The animal market stayed empty for over one and a half hour real-time. I don't know what else to do. I never got a chimpanzee nor a tapir on the market.

I went into my old zoo to check and I had tapirs. I don't remember if I got them from the animal market or as a reward after finishing some of the objectives. Have you checked if you have any animal under the reward tab?

I concluded that it must've been a bug. Because after having an empty market for over two hours, I gave up and closed the game. When I returned and loaded my save file, the market was full of animals, including the species that I was missing.
I guess Frontier never fixed that bug, because (including me) you can find posts describing the exact same problem from today back to when the game was released. It seems to occur both on PC and consoles.
I just wished I'd closed and reloaded my game sooner instead of checking the market every minute for 2 hours. ;-)
