You'd do well to follow Liqua's example. So far, Liqua is the only pirate I've seen that seems to have any honor (if such a thing is possible :) ) and is making a good faith effort to maintain the integrity of the game without trying to cause problems for the rest of us or manipulate Frontier.

USS are good for the occasional Lakon. When I get my viper I'm going to give piracy a bash, I don't have any interest in trading and the NPC conflict zones get a bit zzzz after a while.

Today I tried something different. I followed haulers in supercruise and even on jumps to another systems. I noticed most players exit SC near 1000km which leaves them 20km away from station. If you follow them more or less behind you will be very near them when exiting SC. 20km seems to be plenty of time to kill them before no fire zone.

One problem I run into was that most people don't like dying. They kept logging out before I was able to destroy them. Some had quite reflexes as it only takes seconds to get past shield. If these people don't want risk, why don't they play solo?

I accidently managed to nearly do some successful piracy. Confused? I'll explain.

My sidey was docked at Azeban City and I was looking for work on the bulletin board. There was this job, a bit of mercenary work for parties unknown, to cause some trouble is Asellus Primus. Kill 3 civilian ships and we'll pay 3600Cr. Sounded easy enough and I thought it would give me a chance to try out my new cannon.

I make the jump and go looking for trouble. I go to an unidentified signal and there's a Hauler. Simple target yeah? But a second later an Eagle jumps in and attacks the Hauler, now I'm not going to let some NPC come in and steal my kill, so I attack the Eagle. Seconds later the scan reveals that the Eagle is System Authority and the Hauler is wanted. 100Cr warrant against me now. The Eagle pilot is confused trying to fight two targets, so I let the Hauler land the coup de grace. Then I attack the Hauler. I'm doing him severe damage, though I'm not sure whether he counts as a civilian. I never find out as he drops some cargo and jumps out. It's a mixed bag, but some of it might make a few K.

I try another signal. This time there's a Lakon Type 9. He's clean, so a legit target for the mission. I take down his shields and target his power plant, get it all the way down to 12% and then he jumps.

In desperation I go to the station to try my luck. I think I see a likely target in the distance. Weapons out I boost towards it, passing close to the station. I get a warning to stow my weapons, I ignore it and try and boost out of the no-fire zone. Then two scans in quick succession, followed by a brief burst of weapons fire... "you were killed by Beagle 2 Landing"

Back to the sidey in Azeban City...
